Still the most confusing thread on the coli because nobody here knows what they want from the team
:stopitslime:

I want young players - who love to compete - being given the reigns.

I want the type of players knowing they are fighting Tyson but walking into the ring actually thinking they are going to win every round on the score card.

That gives the fans spending their disposable income their money's worth and realistically projects us into the lottery.

I want no temptation from our execs to leverage the future for big veteran gambles and putting together that competitive young squad who ties up the cap enough should be able to keep the hardcore "I want to see competition b/c I hate tanking" brehs like me content enough thinking about the journey and the future.

I want Melo to be in a great situation away from NY.

It seems like I'm getting what I want.

We'll see.

Love the Baker deal, he's a gritty hard-nosed defender that plays the game the right way. He's sneaky athletic and extremely cerebral.

Feels like we're outbidding ourselves for these guys. Signing youth is a step in the right direction but we're still overpaying guys. We're still gambling on players instead finding true bargains imo.
I feel like Timmy's agent said, "My client really wanted to be in NY and it was a very big embarrassment the way you treated him. He need assurance that he really is apart of what you're building here and, maybe we'd be willing to take 15mill from another team but show us he's not going to be trade bait."

W/ Baker, I feel like they figured he was a fan favorite, he's been really committed and amenable to whatever role the team wanted him to play and... they are ensuring draft low projected draft position.

The Melo deal is what we need to really look at with a magnifying glass - we want to move past the former era but we can't be embarrassed and fleeced.

Best Team thread title on here I've seen salute. :salute: (No pun attended .. )

That REP goes to @storyteller - he created the great title.

Right, but young players who love to compete kind of conflicts with full tank mode sentiments of 25% of this thread no?

That's kind of my point:
25% of this thread wants to bottom out every year for the next 3-4 years at 15 wins or less. But then they complain, laugh, and point fingers when the knicks make all the wrong possible moves.
25% of this thread wants young players who compete. But then you guys don't admit that young players that compete and can't win is just tanking with flair. And then you can't admit that young players that compete and can't win aren't worth being in the NBA
25% of this thread is fine fielding a 1st round and done team.
25% of this thread wants to max out the salary and trade all picks to give melo and KP the best chance to win now

Of those 4 groups, the only thing you guys agree on is that KP is a great player.

Some of y'all love melo, but wanna tank, but don't want to admit that tanking tarnishes Melo's image in the media and basketball credibility
Some of y'all love KP, but wanna tank, but get all :damn: when KP ignores the team all summer because of the dysfunction

Matter or fact, that's where the delusion comes in. Half of this thread wants a peaceful and productive tank "process". It's a complete pipe dream.

Half this thread wants Melo and KP to accept losing, while developing young hungry players who compete, young hungry players who are not allowed to win more than 15 games, but somehow everyone remains happy and thankful for the opportunity of playing in NY, everyone has the talent to kick it into playoff mode in 4 years, free agents look past the tank mode seasons, and other teams and the media stop laughing at our franchises dysfunctional ways.

It's a clusterfukk in here.

Lebron retiring and the warriors winding down but remember there are new teams on the come right now. Timberwolves, 76ers, Bucks. It's anyone's guess how good they become but they're definitely on the up.

Which is why I felt it's dumb to wait around for the Warriors or Cavaliers to fall off, imo.

So who yall getting to tutor Frank brehs

I didn't say anything about the Sixers nor Bucks pimp, who's to say that if they can stay healthy or keep their core together. Nobody knows what the landscape will look like in 3-4 years.
