Exactly. I don't know where that ever came from. It's not even the stans, but the detractors who swear that Aaliyah was all of a sudden boosted to GOAT status after she died. Aside from ludicrous claims that she'd be "Beyonce status" or that "Beyonce wouldn't exist", a lot of the praise she gets are things that were said while she was alive.

All I heard was the truth...Aaliayh been replaced by countless Pop-RnB chicks...She didn't leave a hole in the game...

Pop-RnB didn't lose a step because Aaliyah died...It stayed in the same trajectory...And Timbaland himself implied that Aaliyah was not a workaholic...She liked to travel and fool around, instead of recording more songs...

With the way the game is moving so fast, her beauty would have deterioated with age, her voice wasn't exceptional, her music wasn't soulful and timeless, it was HEAVILY carried by brilliant Timbo beats that have become outdated...

I don't think she would have been able to compete with Rihanna for that Queen of Pop-RnB spot...
