lol. people love to play stupid when celebrities die.
aaliyah wasnt a vocalist at all. if she was still around doing music when t-pain blew up, she wouldve wasted no time jumping on that autotune bandwagon in hopes of reviving her music career. she wouldve been making sellout pop music as well.
t-pain was on point. it looks bad because of his terrible wording, and he picked the wrong time to say it - while premiering a track with her that only he would benefit from.
he kept it real tho. cant be mad at that. but this'll probably be the last we hear from dude on this level of exposure.
He said that Aaliyah would have fallen off completely.
thats not what he said.
but truth be told, she had already fell off before she died.
and the cliff that she fell off from, wasnt all that high to begin with.
She already had staying power. She, in R&B terms, would have her own hardcore fanbase and lasted till now. She may not have been on top in 2015, but she would have outlasted most of her peers.
singers like aaliyah didnt last long breh.
and her fanbase had already started moving on,
She was never nasty, rude, or disrespectful to anyone when she was alive.
you dont know that.
thats not what t-pain meant anyway.
In that theory, you would admit that Pac would fall off? He wasn't considered the best rapper when he was alive, especially when BIG, Nas, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang were hitting their strides.
lol @ comparing aaliyah to 2pac!!!
but yea, pac wouldve fell off too. i dont like the untouchable aura that people put around him either. nobody is exempt. as a betting man, i'd say that he had just 1 more classic album in him before cooling off.
pac was indeed considered the best active rapper before he passed. he had it poppin more than all those rappers you listed.
Y'all both right. Respect Aaliyah, but if she was alive the same nikkas idolizing her would be saying she fell off.
Then again, if she was alive there'd be no Beyonce or Rihanna. No annoying beehives and navies. That would have been nice. Aaliyah was about us, not about pleasing white folks. There would be no weave crypt or bedwenching with Aaliyah, no playing games about her race to make her more palatable worldwide.
Oh well. Nobody deserved to die as she died. Ain't that right Matt and Tina?
lol.
beyonce was already bigger than aaliyah when aaliyah was still alive, so how would there be no beyonce if aaliyah didnt pass?
beyonce wasnt "pleasing white folks" back then either.
and i wouldnt be throwing around bedwench insults, knowing aaliyah's track record.
and even Drake worshipped her to death.
i'd bet good money that drake wasnt even into music like that(if at all) when aaliyah was in her prime. just like the vast majority of aaliyah stans.
Aaliyah can't sing?
She may not be no damn Whitney Houston, or even a Mary J., but she was from the 90s, and back then, they would have called her out if that was the case. You acting like she was Britney Spears.
she was never held in high-regard cannon. she was seen as a product of the producers & writers around her. she wasnt even seen in the same light as some of her immediate peers like monica & brandy.
there was no crusade against her career because she was mainly a school-girl act. her target audience was basically females in that elementary thru college range.
altho, her name was met with boos at the soul train awards in the midst of the r.kelly scandal.
