This is the most retarded trade ever.

The Magic had teams like Golden State willing to give up anybody on their roster for Howard with NO guarantee of him staying.

Basically, WHY would they not take the best deal available?

:why:

If they just wanted to refuse to trade him to Brooklyn, why not just take the deal one of those crazy GMs were offering (Houston and earlier GS?)

I don't understand how this happened. This would get vetoed in 100% of every Fantasy League in the world, but it happens in real life.

:heh:

I still cannot even begin to fathom how the Lakers did not have to trade Gasol in all of this. How is that possible?

Never heard of this trade as an option either, but I do agree with the overall premise that ORL accepted a terrible deal when they had better options from better teams. Now they have a hole at center, no superstar to build around & very little difference making talent. Magics lost forever off this

No they don't. Once they let Kyle O'Quinn play he'll show out.

Their superstar is coming in a year, and perhaps a difference making talent.

The only mistake Orlando made was not making the Dwightmare some other team's problem.

Dwight is the reason those deals werent done. No way do u trade half your team for a guy thats gonna bounce. And by all accounts the Magic was not sold on Bynum re-upping. So Dwight zapped they azz. Im so happy for what Bron, CP3 & Dwight did these owners. All these years of convient loyalty by these owners. Wanting a player to give his all to an a franchise, just to put said player on the trade block ex. Rondo. So screw anyone that has a problem with Dwight.

Simple logic

You're essentially in here trying to sell Magic fans on a Honda Accord, and talking about it like it's a Bmw M3. @ Afflalo averaging 17-18ppg until he's 33, what are you smoking?

they could always trade Afflalo for Derrick Williams. He doesn't have to stay in Orlando forever.

The magic are employing that "fukk trying to get the best players you can get and being good now, let's just plan on sucking as bad as humanly possible, get a couple of picks, a decent piece and just pray on getting lucky in the draft and getting a franchise player so we can start the same exact process we just finished that culminated in being forced to trade our last franchise guy...but hope that it works this time and we're a good team again at some vague indeterminate point in the future" strategy that everybody is keen of saying is the only way to go nowadays (see: the hornets deal last summer)...it's billed as the "OKC model", but more often results in years of bottom feeding than lucking up and drafting durant and westbrook and harden quality players in successive years and instantly becoming contenders...it's just that the end result was the lakers getting their man this time around, so...you know how that goes

They needed to get rid of hedo's crap contract to if they're weren't getting Bynum.

But rebuilding through the draft is the best move
