In other societies it's very common for a family to reject or condemn a marriage between their children and someone else because they dont feel the other person and/or their family is up to par in terms of social ranks and financial status. Americans however tend to believe in LOVE as a basis for a union and anything else is frowned upon or condemned with labels like "gold digger" etc.
Truth is men run the world and based on their positions, get their pick of the litter among the women. If a woman doesnt wanna be stuck with some bum cat who's content making minimum wage at 25 y/o, playing video games, and smoking weed then that's her right.
I wouldnt want my daughter, nieces or little cousins passing on the opportunity to marry a doctor only to marry some burger flipping mofo either.
Burger flipper might be a cool cat and love her but marriages arent just about that. You want to bring people into your family that will place future generations in a better position. As a man my own father always told me "never ever marry a woman of lower social class than you. Either same or higher. Never lower!"
