Lol, I would he inclined to say no but I'm not the decision maker. I do know that those Celtics teams will end up being overrated, not because of the fans, but the damn players. These nikkas really think they were the best team of all-time for winning ONE title.

They would have easily went back to back if KG didn't get injured so they pretty much were an unstoppable force before he got :flabbynsick:

Plus, they are the reason LeBron left Cleveland.

Stay mad tho lol

that would be crazy. he only played 6 seasons with the celtics and won 1 championship and made only 2 finals appearances. they weren't even the best team for half of his time there.

the heat retiring bron's and bosh's jersey have a better case. at least they made the finals each season they were together and won more rings.
there's not even a case ofc Miami's gonna retire Brons jersey. They retired nikkas jerseys that aint even play for them. Likely the best player they've ever had over a 4 year stretch

He wasn't there long enough to me...or maybe a 2nd ring would've offset that. But Boston needs to reevaluate their retired numbers. Literally half the numbers in the rafters don't need to be there.
the problem with retiring a nikkas jersey right here

biased in the moment people from another time decided that "oh these dudes played with Bill and em" or (later on) "these dudes played with the chief and larry and em" they had to be important enough to be recognized. On individual impact, what KG has done to keep the name of Boston relevant is probably behind Bill, Larry, and maybe PP imo

I think it comes fr Boston being one of THE most hardcore sports towns (along with other cities with strong blue-collar white presences like Chicago, Philly, B-More) but still.

IMO these are the Celtics who definitely deserve to be up there
Cousy
Bill
Sam
KC
Hondo
Heinsohn (a lot due to being a Celtic for 60 years even after retiring)
Cowens
Bird
McHale
Parish
Pierce

Red should have a banner without question
but I don't understand why a number is attached to it. MAYBE let Bias stay up there. If KG gets a banner it's not too big of a deal. But then Rondo would need one too.

Everyone else (like 9 others) doesn't belong there with them.

I forgot to include, the real issue, modern managements with non biased outlooks cant repeal those numbers cause they'd look like a dikk.

but yeah banners are a better way of doing it, with equal importance given

Why would Rondo need one if KG gets his retired? :mjlol:

KG is an alltime great who made the Celtics relevant after 20 years of being trash and lead them to a Championship.

Nope, only one ring with the Celtics and not even the Finals MVP. Those years will be remembered as the years of the Lakers and then the Heat. Great defender but he averaged 16/8/2 over his 6 years. I think he’s going up there partly because he led the vocal crusade against Ray Allen.
Most places that should be enough but Boston should be a bit tougher to get up there IMO.
You can’t bring up lakers/heat cause Boston was instrumental in both. Dragged Kobe to game 7 and chased bron to Miami along with restarting the big 3 era

Rondo won that same championship and has more time under his belt with the team.

Rondo was a freaking second year player who averaged 10 / 5 their championship season. He also played TWO more seasons with the Celtics.

Again, KG is a 5x all-star, DPOY, 1 all-nba, 5x all-defensive team, clear cut best player on their championship team. That's in six seasons with the Celtics.

Rondo shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as KG, you're insane.

as a celtic fan i wouldnt be mad at it at all. i would be disappointed if they didnt. rondo is the perfect example of someone who balled out but not long enough or good enough for the 9 to go in the rafters. so disappointed he never found a jump shot
