Was his tenure in Boston somewhat short? Yes. Still, that doesn’t matter in my opinion. It was highly decorated with all star, all defense, and all nba nominations, a defensive player of the year award, two trips to the finals, and their only championship in the last 31 years. If it’s up to me, #5 goes up there. He was absolutely the backbone of those teams and the guy who changed the culture of the franchise.

There is probably not a single Celtic fan who wouldnt want his jersey retired. Its going to happen, 100 %. Wyc pretty much confirmed it and when KG and PP were on the Nets and played against the Celtics in Boston, they panned the camera in the arena at two empty spots in the rafters during both of their tributes.

Hes getting his jersey retired in Minny too. Although thats a little trickier because of his relationship with Glen Taylor but yeah, its going to happen, obviously. Hes the franchise leader in basically every single statistical category.

they should retire his name like Loscutoff and let the wolves retire his number since he is their franchise GOAT

Yes and here's why.
He played for them for 6 years while it's not a decade it's not like he just passed through Boston and had a cup of tea. He was a big part of a championship team and they went to the finals for a couple more years. The days of winning 4-5 titles every decade is over. Pierce and KG should be the only Celtics from the 2000-2020 era to get there jerseys retired.

Nope, only one ring with the Celtics and not even the Finals MVP. Those years will be remembered as the years of the Lakers and then the Heat. Great defender but he averaged 16/8/2 over his 6 years. I think he’s going up there partly because he led the vocal crusade against Ray Allen.
Most places that should be enough but Boston should be a bit tougher to get up there IMO.

Yes, he was huge part of that championship, their last championship was 2000 years ago.

He was a champion, 5x all-star, 1 DPOY, 1 all-NBA team, 4 all-defensive team.

Stop it breh. He was the clear cut best player on that championship team and made the finals 2x with them. Multiple deep runs in the playoffs too.

Absolutely. He got them those Brooklyn picks

Nah but for real he was their 2nd best player during their title run and was around for 6 years. I think that's definitely enough

KG is an all-time great player but I dont feel he did enough as a Celtic breh. That would be enough in Miami or Cleveland but I just feel Boston should have a higher standard. Then again, they probably have some players up there that are less deserving

Of course he should. C's fans generally agrees on this. :myman:

Hey man, fukking Memphis retired both ZBo and Tony Allen’s numbers so I can’t say these things surprise me anymore. :yeshrug:

Celtics need to chill though. They have the most retired numbers in the league. They gonna be having a bunch of nikkas rocking #53 and #78 in 2040 :scust:

Let them nikkas wear letters:blessed:
