Should men be forced to pay child support if they let the woman know in advance that they don’t want the child?

And a woman has the power to take birth control or make a man wear a condom if she doesn’t want a child. Why does she get to kill the fetus and get out of her responsibility if she’s too irresponsible and reckless to do one of the above?

I haven’t seen a logical answer yet

She gets to kill the fetus because she's carrying it, if men could be impregnated, they'd have that same power which is why I'm suggesting men exercise their power when they have it, which is before they deposit their sperm into a woman's body.

are woman incapable of taking measures to prevent this or is all insemination not consensual

Women are absolutely capable of taking measures to prevent pregnancy. I don't know about you but I'm not interested in trusting another person to abort a baby because I accidentally won the jackpot while gambling in the baby casino.

It's also a man's financial decision to make. That's why he should get to make it.
No. All people are responsible for the people they bring onto earth.

If this country actually had better support for kids then child support wouldn’t be an issue.

This country has decided against socialism, therefore individuals have to pay to support their own kids.

Yes you should. The child is innocent, be a man and take care of the them. Regardless if you made a mistake or have regret.

A woman business is hers, and a man business is his.

Good post. I am pro choice and I think a woman should be allowed to abort for whatever reason. Women should obviously not have to carry to term for rape/incest (this makes up 1 percent of abortions) or medical reasons (12 percent, but half of those medical reasons are from women using drugs and alcohol). But they shouldn’t be forced to carry to term if the pregnancy was used by them being reckless and irresponsible either (this is the reason for the majority of abortions).I wouldn’t want any woman that wants to kill their fetus to be forced to have a child

I’m just curious why people are so ok with things being so obviously one sided

And I’m curious what would happen to abortion rates if women knew that a man wouldn’t have to pay child support if he told her in advance that he doesnt want anything to do with the future kid
I see your point, it's likely beyond me, but my assumption is that in a vacuum, men and women aren't the same thus the imbalance with an approach to moral decisions. Although, imo, morality is more of a gradient as opposed to black and white, some people disagree with that on a fundamental basis.

I have to look more into the topic but if I'm winging it, the father should be allowed to defer child support, but I support a strong social safety net, so something like that is already covered by taxes. I assume in this same environment, we have improvements to education, sex education too, so babies out of wedlock are reduced overall, so the costs for that wouldn't be insane.

It takes both to make a pregnancy happen and thus both have the power to prevent it

Yet one party can remove themselves from the consequences and the other party cannot

Why is this so hard to understand

This is reasonable.

What would you think of allowing the woman the option to get an abortion but if she decides to keep it the father can decide not to have ant responsibility because he didn’t want to have the baby?

Is that fair to both parties? I’m sure some will say it’s not fair to the child but neither was bringing them into the world with parents who had a difference of opinion on them to begin

It's not necessarily fair, but the man put himself in that situation by choosing to have unprotected sex when he could have easily done otherwise. As I've been saying in this thread, the man has and should do what's best for him at the end of the day as the woman is going to do what's best for her.

Don't put yourself in that situation where someone will be making the call that will effect your life long term. I'll use the perfect example from my life. I turned down sex with this chick once who insisted it was cool without contraception and turns out years later it was the best decision for me personally as she was fertile as hell and has had 6 kids since then. I was not trying to take that risk and leave the final decision up to someone else doing what was best for them.

It's really that simple.

A woman decides “I was dumb to let this dude nut in me, I’m not ready for a kid, it would ruin my life. I’m gonna kill this fetus and move on with my life” - this is ok

A man decides “I was dumb to nut in this chick, I’m not ready for a kid, it would ruin my life. If she wants to have the kid I can’t stop her, but I want to completely remove myself from all forms of responsibility and move on with my life” - this is not ok

A man has no say OR financial responsibility towards a fetus
Only a woman does
At some point even the woman has no say whether or not she can legally abort what is deemed a "baby"
At that point both parents are legally responsible for the baby

The concept of abortion itself makes these important distinctions, they apply towards a mans say in the matter and eventually his financial responsibility towards the resulting baby

This is not why most women have abortions.I said let’s focus on the primary reasons - them realizing they shouldn’t have let a dude nut in them and they dont wanna live with the responsibility
Now you’re introducing baseless conjecture because you have no intelligent response to your premise being blown up …yikes

nikkas like yourself don’t want to have actual dialogue… you want to soap box your ignorance and use these moronic easily debunkable false equivalencies to shoehorn in social ideology based on personal insecurities ...which is why this country is where it is today :dead: shyt is sad

In 2022, birth control is widely accessible in different forms.
A man who is not trying to produce children realistically can prevent it from happening.

In the event that conception does occur, he cannot then cop pleas or shirk his legal responsibilities.

In the words of Tango to Frank Lucas. "Its 20%, if you don't like it, then don't sell dope"

This is what gets me about the abortion debate. All these different birth control forms should have pretty much eliminated most of these unwanted pregnancies. This ain't 1970 or 1980.
