Should a person making food at McDonalds be able to afford rent and groceries with their paycheck?

Anyone working anywhere should be able to afford rent and groceries wtf. That should be bare minimum shyt.

It's crazy how people are arguing against this.

Not everyone is going to be able to get a high paying career. That's literally impossible.

Some people are going to have to make our food. And they should at least be able to survive doing so.
Conservatives need someone to kick down on. Its strange, they talk all day about "hard work", but think someone working all day as a short order cook is contemptible.

Poverty is indicative of moral failure to them. That's why prosperity gospel is so big in America.

A full time job at this type of establishment should afford you to take care of you. I don't like getting into the argument of value but for all of us, that's how we get paid. Our compensation is based on our value to the organization. Be it negotiated individually or collectively like for a union. All legal work is honest work but all work isn't the same work nor does it provide the same value.

As an entity, the WNBA can't support itself. It is essentially borrowing from big brother nba to prop it up. If the WNBA was a standalone business, it would either be besieged by loans or a defunct league now. You can't say someone should be able to make $_____ when in the real world, with their own balance sheet and income statement, you'd see more money going out than coming in for the WNBA. I'll never say anything like they should be lucky to get what they get but what I can tell from a business perspective is that most, even with their limited salaries, are overpaid.

I wrote the above during the Brittney Griner saga and lot of it is similar here. Your value is largely determined by how easily replaceable or dispensable you are. In a perfect world, it'd be nice if everyone were millionaires and could ball out, but we aren't and we can't. A job where almost everyone from 14 to 70 could do it at a satisfactory level makes you a very disposable commodity. That's a fact that you have to start with. So, with that said, the capacity to take care of yourself under normal circumstances should be afforded to you. Now, if you are trying to go above that, you are simply not being realistic here. If you have kids, etc.., you have to shoot a bit higher than this.

Americans been brainwashed to spit on the next person's head if they get to stand a little higher.

Most people in this country are a few months of no pay or a massive health problem away from being fukked up out here.

So it's hilarious to see them argue against their own interest. Same people that will make a GoFundMe when shyt get real :heh:

What an idiotic statement

Of course not they should not be able to afford rent unless they live in a very small town

You are working an unskilled labor job. If you want more money, you can always gain skills

same "unskilled" jobs were considered essential in 2020. :sas2:

see how quickly society determined who was needed to keep things functioning.

Its always been a job for adults.

Who else would be working there during school hours/ school days? :dahell:
When I was a kid it was retirees and part time college students working during the day, now its adult immigrants and other ordinary people who would probably be working in manufacturing jobs if we still had them in this country

Dumbest statement ever.

Where do these "unskilled" workers live at, if they not in rural towns? Cities and suburbs filled with low-wage establishments.
