Telling someone I need you to slice your belly open by 6pm, not a minute later, is some cold-blooded shyt
Also the barbarian after all this time still being too stupid to realize nothing happens in the realm without Toronaga the gawd knowing about it is
:snoop:

When I saw it was only an hour, I thought aint no way they're going tie up, fallout from Marikos death, Politics and the battle. When it ended I was like:gucci: no battle but soon after I was :obama:not bad of an ending. Still, it did fall a bit flat with a battle.

Game of thrones would have been better off without the last two big battles tbh

It basically killed off big complex and interesting chracters (along with all their plot threads) in a lot of stupid and boring ways

So was it Toranga who sent the Shinobi in the previous episode or was it indeed ishido?
Ishido sent them.

Toranaga had people in Osaka Castle who saw Yabu let them in. Also, Yabu was acting guilty over Mariko's death, so that made him even more sus.

It was Ishido. Ishido admits to it when he speaks with Yas outside the council meeting. When he says Yas will have a council spot, He says mariko wasnt meant to be killed, but she resisted.
That's right, I remember now.

Toranaga knew what would happen the entire time. He knew Ishido would forbid Mariko to leave. He told her to try anyway so that everyone would see her soldiers and her fighting. He knew that her duty would compel her to commit seppeku. He knew Ishido would stop that from happening. And he knew that Ishido would then try to abduct her. Everything was planned. He knew exactly how every piece on the board would move. And he knew that Ishido would use Yabushige to help in his plan.

When shogreh said he studies the wind, he meant that.

This had a spark when it started, after that..

:francis:

Toranaga, Yabushige, Mariko, and John are great characters but everyone else doesn’t do much for me or just wasn’t explored enough.

Also, the color grade on this is horrible. It’s a huge disservice to make one of Asia’s most vibrant cultures as washed out as it is & it ironically feels inspired by western media like generic World War II films & euro-arthouse flicks. It might be the worst part of show for me honestly.

But this was still like a 6 or 7 for me though, mostly because of the acting & scarce points of spectacle. It probably sounds like I hated it but I expected more than just people pontificating in dreary camps for half the runtime.
