I like Brown, but I would rather see him stay in the senate. I’m afraid that senate seat will flip if he leaves. I also don’t know if he have enough of a personality to win. Only real political junkies know who he is, and it might be difficult for him to break through.

If he wasn't in such an important Senate seat I would be more for it but I like his style. He would better than any Democratic candidate on tap right now.

I don’t want any sitting U.S. Senators running for President. The Dems need to expand on what they have.

The way to go is a Biden/Beto ticket.

breh losing a senator to get the presidency is like sacrificing a bishop to take your opponent's queen, you do it every single time...

i think sherrod would win Ohio w/o question...not sure about Biden...dude is going to be almost 80 and has damn near 50 years worth of oppo research. for instance, dude shyt on anita hill and helped clarence thomas become SC justice; he has wandering hands; plagiarized a bunch of speeches (allegedly); was a gung ho drug warrior and 100% behind the "law and order" legislation of the 80s that put millions of people in the system; and he may have trouble exciting base

Donald Trump is our current president.

Biden’s age or history is not an issue because Trump is older with a way worse history.

"Don't compete there and lose 100% of the time".

I thought we were going back to 50 state strategy (aka the right strategy ). I see there are some people who still think not campaigning in certain areas is still sound strategy. Not to mention Obama campaigned heavily and won both states only 6 years ago. The last presidential candidate on the Democratic side lost those states due to not being well liked and doing what this guy suggested.

We really need to get rid of the consultant class in Washington and Democrats reliance on them.

And then the question will be asked: "Was she lying back then, or lying now?"
Trump was accused of ripping his wife Ivana's hair out, beating her, and then raping her after he had a bad hair plug operation by a plastic surgeon she recommended. She has since recanted what she first admitted in her divorce.

You guys really need to stop playing these morality games with Republicans and if they try to play them, you run ads repeating the story above ad nauseum until they back off. At this point to be honest, whether it's true or not, im looking at candidates policies and ability to beat Trump more than their personal life. These morality test with the supreme Court and future of the country at stake, are luxuries at the moment. Also when Trump is the candidate it sort of stiffles their ability to act like moral superiors.

If the Trump campaign tries to play this game you just swamp the airwaves and media about his rapes, abuse, possible 20 requested abortions, sleeping with porn stars, his kids in the tabloids hating him, etc. He can't win the morality fight .

How much did Trump's personal misconduct hurt him in 2016?

There are different rules for Republicans and Democrats.

No Democrat could get away with even a tiny fraction of what Trump gets away with.

I'm willing to bet that if the candidate is strong, they can power through personal life slights. They failed to take down Keith Elison with this tactic in MN. Secondly, I'm going to say something that may make a few people groan but I honestly believe its true. Politicians who from the jump try to construct a perfect image and having no faults in order to get that John Edwards look of the "The Perfect Candidate" will more easily fall to moral attacks than those who don't try too hard to pretend. Not saying you go out there and say " I beat my wife" and again, to emphasize, this is what is CLAIMED, but just like John Edwards who spent hundreds of dollars to get the perfect haircut, had expensive consultants trying to control every part of his image, when a crack shows, it become more pronounced in this environment.

Trump already had the image of an abrasive new York sleezebag and this is why morality smears are harder to attach to him. People expect it out of him though the Ivana story surprising didn't get that much play and I think it would have done a lot more damage than other stuff. Especially if her divorce deposition was taped.

If you have policies that contrast with the opposition enough and at the same time don't act like your shyt smells like flowers, I think you can make it past this roadblock. Take Obama. He didn't pull any " I only inhaled" bullshyt like Clinton. He straight up said I smoked the sticky and inahled. That's the point. Also with the Reverand Wright, he took that and flipped it into a speech about race overall instead of hiding from it and letting it break his campaign. Outside of that, him and Michelle appeal is how they always come off as sincere and relatable. Sincerity goes a long way.

To add to my above posts, while Trump seems like Teflon , it doesn't mean Republicans overall are immune. Even post Trump you still have the occasional Republican getting booted for personal issues and getting encouraged to resign by fellow Republicans.
