i would be really excited for president sherrod brown. the only issue (as people have said here) i can see is that republicans would pick up that senate seat. he is much further to the left than his state is.

Yeah he apparently doesn't have the fire but I'm sure that can change. Every senator at least once has looked in the mirror and seen a future President.

Look at the policies we had post Great Depression - when black people were excluded from most government benefits. We were basically a hybrid socialist/market economy. GI Bill, labor unions flourished, high marginal rates on the wealthy, government loan guarantees and mortgages to encourage home ownership, Medicare, social security etc
