This game is super polarizing amongst the Shenmue community. Either it’s second best entry behind S2 or it’s complete trash :dead:

Honestly as much as I want to give Lan Di the beats, I would’ve been pissed if I had paid full price over it. That being said, I’m having a fun time but my issues are

The writing/English dub: Shenmue has always had the super cheesy 80s Asian Kung Fu movie vibe, but damn this takes the cake here. The shytty English dub from the first one has a charm to it, the dub in the second game at least tries (keyword tries) to fix this, and we regress at this one. I get there were budget issues, but some care should’ve been put in this department. Also
EVERYONE in the village EXCEPT Ryo knowing that Shenhua wanted to fukk/is likely the village hoe is damn near S1 Sailor meme level fukkery :laff:

The Stamina system: Shenhua must not care about Ryo and all that garlic he carrying around :dead: and you’re spending most of the day chopping wood (:dame:) for $ to buy more garlic so you won’t be assed out during a fight. Community is also split on this mechanic

@Kamikaze Revy may have a point :russ:
The lack of innovation/design progress being reported from this game is only being overlooked by stans with ultra thick nostalgia goggles on. :yeshrug:
I loved the games when they first came out. I wanted part 3 to be epic. But I saw early on the game was going to be pretty much the same, and to me, I find it unacceptable. Some people are content with diving back into those dates mechanics. That’s cool too.

I thought.... I could be wrong.... But I thought this whole thing was pitched as it being the same. That was the entire point. Before it became MARKETED as a AAA title.... It was some small kickstarter that was going to be pure nostalgia

I just hope this does well and gets a real budget and team from the start on part 4... and I haven't even played 3 yet... But we all knew what they was doing. Red Dead Shenmue, this was not gonna be

Yeah no idea why people expected more from an indie game

They got fooled when all these big companies (money) came into it.. But they weren't about to change the engine or any main technological components that late in the game.. That was all marketing money and a dab of extra stuff that was already in there

Now give them 100 million from day 1 and we might get something here

How the hell you get passed the part with the GTE with the training session with Sun? The game glitches out and goes in a time loop. You have to reset the game to get out of it. Did I mention I hate the PS controller? Always hated it since PS1.

Stop saying this dumb shyt as you rush to play whatever sequel you are playing next.

It plays like Shenmue which you already before claimed to not like, so why you in here repeating this nonsense:camby:

It was never marketed as a AAA game. They always maintained t ha they were a small Studio and the main goal was to continue the story. Not build some sprawling AAA game. When they got extra money they were very up front about the types of things they’d be adding.

I wouldn’t want Shenmue to turn into red dead. I like it the way it is. There’s space for all types of games. They’d ruin Shenmue if they tried to turn it to a “modern cinematic” game.

I never said I didn’t like the previous games. I said they haven’t aged well and the new one needed to improve to matter today.
What parts of shenmue 3 have you been enjoying the most?

The amount of padding in this game is ridiculous. The first section of the game should’ve been 5 or so hours, instead it was stretched unnecessarily

The second location of the game>>>>>>

QTEs need patched. I shouldn’t need to have pro fighting game player reflexes to pass them (I play on the same BenQ monitor that the Evo tournament uses ironically :russ:). The OGs/remasters weren’t this crazy on execution. I lowkey doubt Suzuki himself at his age could pass S3’s QTEs consistently

If you still thinking of copping or are on the fence as to keep playing in the beginning parts:

There’s a point in the first half of the game where you need $2000 to buy a certain item to continue the story. If you aren’t feeling the game by then, you’d be better off trading it in or uninstalling (if you bought digital) at that point. That’s more than enough of the game to decide if you like it or not
