Most people don't seem to realize that it's essentially the same damn thing. There is literally no more evidence for God than there is for the tooth fairy or Santa Claus.

nah i already said i "get" agnostic...which is basically saying "maybe" or "I dunno"....shoot, you can believe that aliens created humankind for all i care....or a god or whatever...

...but when your atheist, you are drawing a conclusion based on "there is no evidence" when you see the evidence every day...if i walk down the street and see a computer....this complex machine... that's proof of engineering.....it's too complicated not to be.... and that's just a computer...imagine EVERYTHING.... not being engineered... by something...that seems more farfetched to me...

Would you agree that God is significantly more complicated than a computer? If so, what designed / created God?

This is cause Christianity has being liberalized/modernized your average american is pretty much a nominal christian, religious when it's convenience. Ignore the shyt you don't like, focus on the shyt that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, only go to church on Easter, etc. At its core, Christianity isn't all that different from Islam. As for Judaism, Jews have always been relatively liberal. As long as you don't convert to another religion, you'll always be consider 'part of the tribe'. Wasn't Israel founded by 'secular jews'? I personally can't really take religion seriously and yeah some of these reddit atheist types just weirdos made their parents made them go to church. is what it is

Difference is when some Christians tell you that, some are doing that to be hypocritical a$$holes.

Others are doing that because they sincerely want to help you.

I've never met an atheist talking disrespectful about a religion for the actual benefit of the person they are talking to

That's not what faith is. Faith isn't denying science, its saying that God created science/design. And that's one of the biggest problems with atheists, they feel that every religious person is simple and unknowlegeable. If you were knowledgeable yourself, you'd know that your post isn't what people of faith believe at all, just talking out of your ass

Also, they don't tend to respect people. If you deny God, that's your prerogative, but don't act as if you're superior or smarter than people who don't. The only people who truly know what happens when we die are dead anyway. I don't have to agree with your philosophy of life (or lack thereof) to deserve to have mine respected. Because, like another poster said, they're mostly socially-inept internet geeks, they don't understand that concept

I tried to reason with a few of the HL athiest crowd on why there's no reason you can't appreciate science hand in hand with spirituality or religion, but they couldn't bring themselves to stop idolizing their lab coat prophets for a minute and got that thread and a few others that it stemmed from bushed/deleted. They're not really about progress. The outspoken and zealous ones that is.
