Either way, I don’t think Sony can afford to sink money into a PS Game Pass for years and years, especially since Microsoft will continue to float Xbox no matter what. Sony is better off not competing at all, it’s just a race to the bottom for them. They should just do their own thing imo, they have enough of a cult following who won’t switch to Xbox no matter what.

They don't have to pull a gamepass fully, but not leveraging their past systems gems to make PSNow more appealing isn't helping and disregarding a lower cost to boost it if you aren't doing anything to update those ips won't make the conversation shifty favorably for them.

‘I understand where you are coming from but shyt don’t work that way. PS2 fanboys went to 360... 360 went to PS4.... it’s because what the other provided that the competition didn’t. Microsoft is winning the public image right now and preaching affordability you can’t beat that shyt.

The argument was exclusives which Sony destroyed Microsoft the last 6 years but Phil mentioned that they want 1 AAA or AAAA a month on Gamepass. With the recent purchase of Zeminx that brings them to 24 plus studios bro. Sony will have to consistently publish exclusives and not wait 4 years 5 years.

Yeah, they should definitely have a subscription for their older titles, but definitely not for day 1 releases. The PS Plus Collection is a good start.

What are Microsoft and Sony “competing” for anymore though? It used to be which box sold more units, but now it’s less clear.

.

The problem here is this hail mary came way too late to be immediately useful. Long term yeah, this will make their ecosystem a killer app warehouse, but right now their studios biggest advertised games for next gen are PS exclusive. They also won't be able to keep that commitment up into next year without a bunch of indies and third party support which is great to advertise isn't going to make a difference when Sony is going to, currently speaking, have one of the greatest launch years it's probably ever had since the PS1 or 2.

2022/mid to late 2021 Microsoft is going to be fleshing out their plans with their service in full force and Sony better have an answer besides timed exclusives as they been playing attack and this puts them heavy on the defense. At the end of the day gamers in general win cause the fight for consumer dollars is about to make a bunch of things we thought about the games industry turn on it's head.

Serious discussion no fanboy shyt. I was reading articles online about Xbox Gamepass and how the purchase of Bethesda changes everything completely.

How could Sony combat? Should they create their own version of Gamepass?

Xbox singlehanded destroys Sony tax on video games at 70 dollars with a $9 subscription fee that always plays multiple generation of games via cellphones etc... With the addition of EA Access possibly Sega and now Bethesda.

This might be the end of Sony if they don’t come out with a quick game plan to combat. ‘Sony exclusives won’t be enough this generation and those games take years to make.

Sony is responding with PS Plus Collection which are 18 games available to PS Plus members on PS5. It’s clearly not as large a library as game pass but it’s at least an answer.

However, I think the only way Game Pass could hurt Sony’s model is if Microsoft starts pumping the service with AAA content, I’m talking God of War and Ghost of Tsushima level gaming not Sea of Thieves.

It’s also contingent on Series S not being a bottleneck for next generation. If Series S ends up holding back Series X experiences them XBOX will be looked at as the affordable option and PS5 the high tech.

All PS Plus Collection Games on PS5

They already have their own version of Gamespass. It’s called PlayStation Now. It just isn’t pushed by them as much as Gamespass is.

Also lol @ this might be the end of Sony. Why does everything have to be an absolute?
That 720p service that they use as an excuse to block backwards compatibility?
Yeah...MS has the sub game locked.

This is why MS just spent 7.5 billion dollars to do just that

:yeshrug: I only know that Gamepass exist because of thecoli. So I am not sure its as big of a factor as some of you think it is.
You don't know gamers then. Anybody that actually plays games has known about/had Gamepass for years now...

The hook to GamePass is their alleged AAA exclusives day one for $5 or whatever the fukk.
OK. That's a wait and see game.
Just took a glance at the Gamepass site, I don't care bout these old games. Most serious gamers done played em.
The other hook being some mid ass games that you wouldn't normally care for,
but for the price of next to nothing, you'd check em out?
Are big multi-plat games gonna be there Day 1? The Red Deads, GTA's ex. I doubt it.

If we’re being realistic no Bethesda game or any Bethesda published game garners the same critical praise as Sony’s 1st party offerings. Sony consistently puts out game of the year or a couple runners ups.

The only game i can think of Bethesda putting out is elder scrolls or starfield.
