Been saying this for the longest, unfortunately we're in an era in which people take everything for granted. I don't see a way around it if you're truly for a limited government. If that's what you truly believe in, how do you expand hand outs?

At what point are the colleges and universities held responsible. They receive Fed and State funding, run huge budget surplus but continue to raise tuition each year. They raise the tuition because they know students will take out massive loans backed by the gov't. What is the incentive/penalty for the schools to control the costs. The system is fukked up.

News articles in recent days were stating the bill would only help less than 4% of current students. My thought is if it can help and was paid for what was the problem? Obama is going to start writing executive orders like crazy now.

democrats presented this bill full well knowing republicans wouldn't vote for a tax increase.

so instead of compromising (which repubs probably wouldn't have accepted anyways) they did this as a move to look good in the 2014 elections coming up.

Good for the Republicans. I am a conservative, and when I graduated college I started saving money and paid of my student loans as soon as possible. It is called personal responsibility and you left wing deadbeats should try it sometime.

Why should I have been responsible and paid off my loans, and now my tax dollars have to go to helping everyone else with their loans? Eat shyt.

She waited for Republican alternatives and even said she'd welcome thoughts about bringing in the money from elsewhere. They didn't offer any ideas. 3 Republicans actually voted for the bill to go to a vote fyi. Regardless of her intentions, someone has to keep this issue in the public eye.
