Anyone that thinks this is a bad thing from a national perspective is an idiot. The entire concept of the program needs to be remodeled. Passing the costs back onto the middle class is not a good look, and this legislation was simply gonna kick shyt down the road.
However, I am getting more and more worried that we are heading towards a system in which if you basically cant pay up front you cant pay at all, and college is no longer a ticket to the middle class.
This is basically a glorified political get out the young vote move, and its genius. They knew this wouldnt pass, and the headline would be "gop blocks student loan reform", and people wouldnt bother witht the details.
