I freaking love this game. My type of game but it isn't better than Octopath Traveler 2. I need to go back to play Octopath Traveler 2 and find the story, only 58% game progress.

Nah, you just gotta use the system better, use the character switch mechanic to block the summon cast

Don't know if I was just playing a bad RNG battle because I did that, and understand the game mechanics - which is why I was saying it's bad game design to end up in some drawn-out battle like that. It's not even a "throwback" to any old-school RPG I can remember.. just shytty design. The pretty pixels got all these reviewers fooled

it took a while but the plot is finally starting to pick up. Got 4 party members now. About the time you get the 4th real stuff starts happening.

Played the first two hours and besides looking and sounding good, there wasn't much to recommend first impressions wise. The battle system is ok, I don't mind the Super Mario RPG button press stuff but it is super easy and basic so far. And the writing is really awful.

I just never got around to it. Been so long since I played the game now. I was going to rebeat it on the playstation (initial completion was on steam deck and it had a lot of little glitches, plus the gfx pop more on the tv on the ps5 version so...). I got a good halfway through my 2nd playthrough before other games took up my time and its space.
