Ken Burns said the same thing but people ignored him - maybe the guy knows what he's talking about because he's one of the best documentarians of all time? :ohhh:
This was a very entertaining piece of content, but we didn't learn much from it. The only time Jordan revealed anything was tearing up at how much of an a$$hole he is.

If you go through the off-court stuff, the best interactions Jordan has are with the security guards and body men around him. We barely hear his teammates in those moments. They usually are not there or don't say anything. And seeing these interviews, its clear his teammates didn't fukk with him that much and vice versa.

IT was fun seeing those highlights and going down memory lane again, but this was not a good documentary.

Did Jordan quit like a bytch when he retired in 93? Or when he took his ball and ran home in 98 because Reinsdorf didn't wanna keep the same team?
We really comparing a player retiring after winning a championship to a player refusing to play the last 1.8 seconds of a playoff game:unimpressed:

If it was so important that he play every single minute of playoff games maybe the Bulls could have paid him more than an end of the bench player?
The year he sat out the Knicks game, he was the 24th highest paid player in the league.

These are the 1993-1994 salaries of all NBA players

Making a little bit less than Hakeem, Barkley, Dominique:unimpressed:

heres the problem with the doc IMO

Nearly all of MJ's teammates in "The Last Dance" catch a stray or rather, some implicit suggestion that it was due to their character flaws/weakness that the Bulls went through some sort of rough patch.....

Meanwhile Jordan is shown to be nigh flawless. The worst coverage he gets is when they tell the story of him hitting Kerr. And even then that same episode ends with the implication that Jordan was only asking the same of what he was giving that his leadership style was the best thing for that era of the Bulls.

Even the pre Phil/Scottie years are quickly summarized as "he was a fukkING PHENOM who was needed the right coach/cast to win".

So given that this is a supposed to be most in depth look at the Bulls team as an entire organization, i can imagine that the extremely pro Jordan Slant would be a little annoying.
I mean this is just not true but

Jordan is a degenerate gambler but it was painted as "he is just competitive."

The bullying was captured as "he is just a winner!"

The best Jordan documentary will be told when he isn't involved on the production side, but the NBA won't allow that story.

Y’all making Jordan out to be some tyrant. The best Jordan documentary is one that highlights his play on the court not all that other bullshyt.

It brought up Jordan republican quote, his gambling, his bully tactics
But you see HE brought it up. Some people wanted to hear from the groupies he was running with. The casino managers:lolbron:

Like I said earlier this week some people wanted a "Surviving MJ" documentary like Kells and Michael Jackson got:hubie:

Jordan said Nah. I'm telling the definitive version of my public life.:yeshrug:

Bullshyt. It was a Jordan led product and Jordan more than anyone had the opportunity to recontextualize every criticism of his career.

The bullying? (which we never saw the worst of)= "oh it was what we needed, didn't ask anything of them I didnt do myself:mjgrin:"

The gambling?="I'm competitive baby, if I had a problem my wife woulda left me "

Retiring to play baseball?="I said I was gonna do it years before I did it "

Republicans buy shoes too?="I donated to that nikkas campaign what more they want?":mjpls:

Mind you, I'm not knocking Jordan for having creative control. Mans has a brand to protect.

But its obtuse to act like that painting a supremely pro Jordan picture wouldnt come at some expense of others, and that's exactly what happened.
