Hold on. Shannon Sharpe got an extension? If I was Ryan I would be pissed too. I get it Shannon's brand is high. But Ryan has put in work and could talk NBA if given the opportunity. Shannon is popular because of his non sports talk. I was watching Jason Whitlock talk about him. He said Ryan Clark isn't likeable and how Shannon has comedic talent. that's he isn't authentic like Shaq, Kenny and Charles. Now i do think that Ryan has versatility to talk other sports and entertainment as he has shown in the pivot. When I look at Ryan I think he should follow the blueprints of guys like Nate Burleson and Michael Strahan. National tv, catering to a worldwide audience. Don't look at guys like Shannon Sharpe and Pat Mcafee. Those guys have built a cult following. So no matter where Pat and Shannon and probably even Stephen a. those guys can go to any network and platform and command a high salary.

I busted out laughing at the thought of Whitlock discussing likability

Wonder if his workload at ESPN will remain the same at $2M+ a year. Is he expected to do even more at that price or did he barely get a raise because he wants to cut his workload down a bit?

During football season he'll do Get Up, NFL Live, First Take, Monday Night Countdown, Monday Night Football Halftime and the postgame with Scott Van Pelt...all for ESPN alone.

That 2 million seems low. Like I know he's not Stephen A, but he puts in lots of work and is a major asset. I wonder how much ESPN is paying Shannon?

And Stephen A's contract is up at the end of this year, and he's basically said he wants ROMO money.

Get Up airs right before First Take and NFL Live is at 4. He just jumps from one show to the next.

A lot of times he's on Skype so he doesn't even need to be present.

Everyone's acting like these guys are overworked when they sign up for this. They want to be big media personalities so they extend themselves. He could have stuck with ESPN and The Pivot but signed on for Inside the NFL. He wants to be everywhere.

They arguably are overworked from the standpoint that the cats in the same building as them (ABC) make more bread than they do for less of a workload. It's why I can see why SAS gripes about it like he does and Barkley cracked the joke about it years ago.

Ryan Clark messed up. $2 million is an insult. If Mina kimes makes 1.5 and Shannon makes 10 million. Ryan should be getting 5 to 6 million. Shannon sharpe does one show and he's barely in the studio.

So, the $2 million is less about them lowballing him, and more about the fact that they're letting him maintain revenue streams outside of ESPN, primarily The Pivot.

There's a very good chance that his original offer was either less than $2 million to keep things as they were, or more than $2 million, but he'd need to divest himself from The Pivot, and stop hosting Inside the NFL.

Only 2 million?

I thought he would be in the 3-4 range with all the stuff he does.
My main question though, is he the draw on any of the shows he does or an air time filler. Shannon and Stephen A IMO have shown themselves to be draws. Is anybody tuning into any show and stopping if they see Ryan Clark on screen? Plus I think outside of the MMA show he's one of the main hosts so it doesn't shock me if he ain't making crazy money. Plus when did 2 million become something to sneeze at?
