It's no guarantee that he'd even get 100 yards. The Giants don't need the game, it helps them to lose the game, they'd put everything into stopping the run. They sure as hell wouldn't want Barkley breaking the record vs them.

I don't care how good you are, running into a brick wall 30+ times is not easy.

Hurts is out with a concussion, Pickett is also likely out with rib injuries. AJB and Smith are also banged up and probably won't play. Sending Barkley out there with a preseason offense is insanity. He'd be running into a brick wall all game. If he was 30 or so yards away from the record, I think you have a discussion and let him play the first quarter with the first team offense, but the GMEN are gonna put nine men in the box. God forbid he tweaks an ankle or a knee in a game where they are locked into their playoff position.

Exactly, it can happen in any game, which is why you take advantage of making sure all your dogs are available when the playoffs start.

If you think the chance at cracking that record is worth the risk that's your prerogative but I disagree. Especially when he needs 101 yards against a team with nothing to play for BUT denying that record, which naturally leads to stacked boxes and defenders leaning into dirty/cheapshots because the one goal is stop 26 no matter what.

great case, theres some recency and lions fan bias but i'd say barry sanders 1997 season. 2053 yards 6.1 ypc 14 straight 100 yard games, 2000 yards over those final 14 games.

This record stood for 40 yrs would've been dope to see them get it, especially after the league tried its hardest to devalue the RB position.

It's not about rest, why would you expose your OL to get rolled up on or Saquon to get his knee or ankle banged up for a personal accolade.

If the 2 seed still got a bye, I'd think they would at least play most of the starters the first half to not get rusty but they're gonna have to play next weekend against either the Commies or the Packers. Not easy work.
