Y'all keep talking about Barkley getting hurt. What about everyone else on the offense?
You can't just put your RB out there with 3rd stringers. The starters on offense would have to play. He might need to go deep into the 4th quarter to clear 100 yards. You're risking potential injuries to other players.
Barkley comes out fine but the left tackle gets his ankle rolled up on or a WR gets a concussion and you might be one and done in the playoffs.
Hurts is still in concussion protocol and the backup has a rib injury. There's no way you can play for the record with them out.
You have a week to rest and get everyone healthy while NFC teams have to play out their game for seeding. Lions and Vikings could end up with a massive injury that makes the Eagles path easier. That's a huge advantage you're willing to throw away for an individual record.
A rushing record and a loss in the playoffs is a failed season. A ring trumps everything.
I personally wanted Hurts to play to knock off rust, so I would've expected the 1st team for at least a quarter. To clear protocol all he has to do is practice once. At the end of the day it doesn't matter to me, but knowing that the team rests dudes every single week based on injury reports, they barely practice in pads, it would've been some G shyt to get the record and try to go on a run

And if Sirianni plays everyone, there's serious injuries, and they get bounced round 1 all you "get Barkley the record" people will be calling for his job.
The Super Bowl is always the end game. Make the best moves to get there.
If they wanted the record they should've been giving him enough carries to get it by game 16 or 17. This isn't the time for individual accomplishments.
That's a fair point all I'm saying is you signed up to play 17 games at the beginning of the season. I see this as no different than load management.

The 14-game OJ record is legitimately the record as OJ was averaging 143 yards per game and nobody has come close to that.
Add to the fact he left in the 3rd quarter of that game damn near would've got 2050 if he kept going.

I don't think the extra game matters or would be an asterisk if Saquon had gotten the record. dikkerson had 30 more carries than Saquon. That's the more logical comparison and clearly if Saquon played he'd end up with a similar about of carries (which is fair).
Philly did the smart thing. You played an entire season to contend for the SB in the playoffs, not to get a record in a meaningless game.
