He’s going to be so mad if they don’t win the Super Bowl. I mean with the way running backs have been treated in past years, that record would’ve at least been a flex to make teams take them more seriously again. That’s so messed up smh. And he had the chance to get the record against the team that let him walk. That’s crazy to me
RB valuation is gonna go up with Barkley, Henry, Jacobs, Jones all changing teams this past off-season and having huge years...
GB thought Jones was washed and at 30, he's about to have his highest rushing total ever (only 28 yards from tying his career high of 1121 in 2022);
LV thought Jacobs was washed and at 26 is finishing his second highest year ever (currently at 1285);
Tennessee thought Henry was washed and at 30 he's having his second highest career year (currently at 1783);
The Giants picked the quarterback over Saquon and at 27 this nikka just ran for 700 more yards than his prior career high (1312 in '22)...
The two 30-year olds (Henry, Jones) switching teams and posting close to, or career highs, combined with the two mid-20s dudes switching teams and doing the same, are gonna inspire some change in the RB market. Teams are gonna have to think twice about giving their guy a second contract, as well as the kind of guarantees they give their backs, if THIS is what these guys are gonna do...
Jones signed with Minnesota for just $7m guaranteed on a 1-year deal. Henry, one of the greatest running backs to EVER play the sport, only got $9m guaranteed on a 2-year deal. Jacobs got $12.5m guaranteed on a 4-year deal, and Saquon got $26m guaranteed on a 3-year deal...
Jones' production should lead to a bigger deal next year, whether still with Minnesota or elsewhere. Henry has at worst been the second best RB this year, they gonna restructure/resign him to a bigger deal. The other two have long term deals already and in the future young backs in their primes who hit FA, are gonna point to the deals Jacobs and Saquon got, as the floor...
30+ former All-Pros hitting FA are gonna negotiate for leverage based upon what Henry just did, and even 30+ guys like Jones who are just good rather than great, are gonna point to what he's done in Minnesota...
The RB market is about to see a correction. The 2025 free agency is gonna include Dowdle, who just had a career year; Nick Chubb, a former All-Pro who appears washed; Aaron Jones, who is finishing a career year; and Najee Harris, who is about to finish this season with his second highest total, having started every single game of his career, ostensibly right smack in the middle of his prime...
Even the lesser FAs are about to see some paper from teams who need backs, relative to what those lesser guys got in the past...
