What are you talking about? :childplease:Being a decent person?:childplease: What does that have to do with anything? How decent is America to us when they gun us down in the streets?:childplease:

Please all leave your petty Republican/Democrat stan wars out of this. I dont see none of that bullshyt:camby:

Talking about being decent in America when this country was founded on us being in the bottom of slave ships. :hhh:
So.....what you're saying is that you are not decent?:jbhmm:

Can somebody explain to me why as a black man i should give a fukk about Sanctuary Cities?

I see the argument popping up again because Sessions vowed to deny funding.

I am not a Republican ( or Democrat ) but i honestly do not understand the Dems position on this.:yeshrug: From my understanding they dont want to follow the law. They want to use federal funds to help illegal aliens. Am i correct?

If that is the case then I am against them also. You got Chicago vowing to fight this, and other cities..But aiyo fukk that! Take care of your citizens 1st.

Am i missing something? And i am coming for knowledge brehs. Not trying to son anyone or playing gotcha. Last year i asked a question about Voter Id laws because i did not see the big deal and some brehs gave me some insight i did not realize. :ehh:

I don't mind detaining and deporting undocumented immigrants committing heinous crimes or those literally over here to bank of the government without lifting a finger only to get subsidized.

But then you got those that actually put in work and contribute to society, don't mess with anyone and are not in anyone's way (including blacks)

Also you can be black and be passionate about a multitude of issues that are directly/indirectly related to us.

The voting population that voted mostly Republican would beg to differ. .

The politicians (mainly the Democrats) want the population for votes but that doesn't mean the citizenry is behind it, hence Trump for President.

As well, a lot of immigrants don't even want citizenship, they just want to work and be left alone.
That's a weak argument and a deflection. If those people don't like it they should either a.) mobilize the votes to see change or b.) move to a city/stste/county that fits their ideology more.

Also, illegal immigrants are swaying elections with their votes.

What was it?:
I fully admit to being ignorant on that subject. I saw it only on its face and was confused as to why people were upset.

I saw it the argument being that it was hindering people of color to have to show a ID to vote. That made zero sense to me. But what some brehs showed me was that it was deeper than that. Some places were requiring a specific type of Id and coupling that with gerrymandering and the closing of polling places in black communities... you can see the pattern of fukkery.

I think the problem is Dems or whoever need to do a better job of framing their arguments sometimes. All i would hear is people mad about showing a ID to vote. I think and still think its totally reasonable to show a ID to vote. I once got arrested because i did not have a ID on me. I feel we should put forth a effort to help the small part of our communities get ID's if they dont have them instead of fighting for voting without one. For one you need a state ID to get most goverment services, open a banking account, get a library card etc.

But i see now that that issue combined with other slick measures is used as a system to supress our votes

Illegals can't vote....and you said I didn't have an argument.

Like I said the Democrats want the undocumented population to vote, they need the numbers but they aren't allowed just yet.

Some Cities Want Their Noncitizen Immigrants to Vote

I am still confused as to what being decent has to do with anything. But to answer your question. If its not about our community then i do not particularly have kumbaya feelings.

I started out asking why I as a BLACK man should care? You ask me if i am decent. :yeshrug: to that i ask who is decent to us?:yeshrug:

Being decent means caring about everyone. You obviously don't and that's your choice I guess. But then I think it's a bit hypocritical to complain about what other groups are doing to your own. But that's just my opinion :yeshrug:

Does being decent mean caring about everyone?

If thats true i can argue that we are ALL are falling short. If that was true there would be no need for Sanctuary cities. People out of the goodness of their hearts would just step up and help out.

But we both know thats not the case 99% of the time. Just sharing my opinion also:yeshrug:

Yes we are. The world could use a lot more caring.

I just try not to use other people's lack of decency to justify my own.

The world could use a lot more caring. But this is the world we live in. Nobody owes anybody anything. Its not quite Game of Thrones but shyt is cold blooded. Do I wish it was a Utopia. Sure. But lets be real about it. This is not the time to walk around with our heads in the clouds breh.

There's some very real life effects of being decent when it comes to human rights issues. Some have been touched on in this thread. It's not having your head in the clouds.

Conversely falling for the propaganda from either side is really having your head in the clouds, which is precisely where most people are.
