Cuz he's Robert fukkin Parrish thats why, you wouldn't say that shyt to Larry B
Robert was just as important to the overall "Team"

You don't even have to use Bird as an example. How long did it take Ainge to get a TV/coaching job after his career ended with the Suns?

If Chief was serious about coaching, he should've tried to get a college coaching job after his ABA job ended. A lot of college kids could've used his knowledge and expertise.

I had the :what: look on my face with the Celts announced that Chief would be working in Public Relations. It probably wasn't the salary that turned him off; it was the realization that he would have to meet and greet more than he intended to.

Hopefully he'll figure out the master plan sooner than later.

y'all gotta stop feeling sorry for these dudes. This aint no "sad story".

This dude made $24 million dollars over the course of his career, and who knows what else he made from advertisements, etc.

The average household making $100,000 dollars a year would have to work 10 years to even make $1 million dollars. And yet, they can maintain a fairly nice house, a nice vehicle and a couple of children.

Furthermore, just because he played with Bird, MCHale, Ainge etc., doesnt mean he's smarter than them basketball-wise nor does it mean he's cut out to be a heaed coach.

This.

This story should be a cautionary tale if anything. Yet you got people in here calling things like Networking and maintaining good workplace relations c00ning it up (a word we abuse on the Coli in general). Parrish was a great player but maybe he should look into coaching a college team if he's so passionate or work in the D-League. If he loved the game and wanted to coach so bad then he should have gladly took that public relations jobs. You got NBA coaches that got their start pouring gatorade. Even former players have to prove their mettle all over again to enter the coaching world look at Mark Jackson.

Bill Laimbeer had to go to the WNBA to coach. Again, all of his attitude strikes me of being very entitled. Tons of former players are coaches in the league. Tyrone Corbin, Mark Jackson, Bryon Scott. He should have quit sharing Ricky William's dealer and worked on his craft and worked his way up the ladder. I'm giving negative amount of fukks now.

:pachaha: @ PPL MENTIONING ALL OF THESE RANDOM ASS PLAYERS.
HOW MANY OF THEM ARE 50 GREATEST PLAYERS OF ALL TIME
OR EVEN HOF?

Why does it matter that they are top 50? People aren't supposed to live off of past accomplishments. You are only as good as your last hit and I'm sure the last thing he hit was the blunt this morning. I never looked at Robert Parish and thought: Intelligent basketball player. I looked at him and thought: Tall. If he was this insightful mind, there would be a place for him or he would have taken that 80k job and worked his way up. There is a severe case of entitlement here with him. It all came too easy for him and when his reign came to an end, he thought people were going to kiss his ass and hook him up with plum jobs. You have to be the change that you want to see, not get put on by others.

I could see why he wouldn't want an $80,000 gig with the same organization that used to give you that much in a week. Not that I'd expect the Celtics to give him something better, or that it's a bad job, but it was probably too much pride for him to swallow.

I can sympathize with him being overly generous. Family can bleed you dry just as much or even worse than any casino, strip club or shady agent. That is the absolute worse, and in some cases it's the family you trust the most -- your parent(s).

That said, the story isn't sad. He could go out and get a good job (six figures, for sure) if he really wanted to.

Lets face facts here. Robert Parish is simply not a hustler in life period. He sounds like a dude who still puffs that good dro daily. I'm thinkin' like maybe if he started to make a name for himself around 10-15 years ago he would be in a nice position today... He doesn't even need to ass kiss or be this super social type dude either. His name in itself holds major weight-and that's only if he played his cards right. He was one of the greatest big men to play the game. Maybe he could've done the Hakeem route and opened up a big man's camp. I believe he's from the South, there's no doubt in my mind he could've easily started off coaching at a HBCU if he was really about some x's and o's then maybe with some success move on up to a lower tier ACC or SEC school as a coach, and that's if he was really about coaching. It sounds like he's just about a paycheck and coaching is whatever.

IMO he simply isn't using his name right to open up some doors. That Lakers/Celtics era is what blew the NBA up on a large scale so those guys on those teams kinda got Cart Blanche when it came to coaching and gm positions and in everyday business affairs(magic johnson). you just had to map out a game plan and at worst at least appear to be serious about what you were trying to accomplish. Parish was a big time weirdo on some other shyt, weed head, introverted steeze. He didn't seize the moment nor the opportunity like he should have. It could've been small shyt- return a phone call here, show up and shake a few hands over there. no matter how introverted you are you can do that shyt. All those old Celtics heads ate whether black or white. ML Carr, Dennis Johnson(rip), Cornbread Maxwell, etc. Parish was just a weirdo on some other shyt and it came back to bite him in the ass

Seattle We Run You Nyggas Ask Russel Wilson
Save your money, brehs. Nothing worse than these 'back in the day' dudes who are assed-out and looking for handouts.

Nyggas so short-sighted breh. You never know that co-worker you hit with the :umad: one day is your boss or supervisor. Never know when you need that classmate who is now a PHD candidate to write a letter recommendation. Dudes out here burn bridges just to nowadays. Dudes don't realize you will live to 65-70 and so on. Better have that money stacked up or else you going be begging. :sadcam:
