I remember walking through a Sears in Greensboro, NC running into Chief sitting at a table signing Autographs. No one was in line, so i went home and got a bball card for him to sign. I always wondered why Chief would subject himself to something low like that. There's no reason, especially being in NC, that he couldn't be a coach or atleast a consultant for a ACC or HBCU team (UNC, NCA&T, etc). Forget his former Celtic teammates, he should give :mjpls: or someone from the Bulls a call...

Erik Spoelstra is white privilege at its finest…..

What pedigree does he has……???

Parish is a GOAT, 3 time Champ with over 20 years experience in the NBA..

What's on Spoelstra's resume?

How does he get to become a coach of a squad like Miami?

I'll wait for your response, but I'm sure you don't have a legit one...

Wasn't Bob McAdoo a Heat assistant longer than Spoelstra? Why wasn't McAdoo picked as head coach? Maybe he's content being an assistant for over 10 years.

Maybe Spo wasn't ignoring phone calls, turning down jobs that weren't seven figures or burning bridges with past teammates.....common sense is hard for nikkas here sometimes isn't it?

No, you'll get your response and your answer. Again, what does past accomplishments have to do with anything towards future prosperity and success? Michael Jordan is the GOAT, so by virtue of being the GOAT, he should be a kickass owner, right, RIGHT? As it turns out, playing the game of the basketball and being on business side of the game are two different entities.

Robert Parish left the game vowing never to return. But - 07.12.04 - SI Vault

This is Parish's own admission

We live in a world where Stacey King, correction, Stacey fukking King is a Bulls announcer with three rings off of the backs of Michael and Scottie. Bill Walton had to overcome a speech impediment to become a broadcaster and he is crying while not answering phone calls.

ESPN.com - Page2 - Bill Walton

Why is he not offering tutelage to Jared Sullinger or Big Baby Davis in the past, even it if starts off as free. You have to start somewhere and everyone's starting point is different. That's just life. You are simply not going to show genuine interest by telling Danny Ainge that you have NBA League Pass, I'm sorry, it doesn't work that way. There is Reggie Miller for TNT, previouisly Mark Jackson for ESPN. Tim Legler or Brian Shaw for the Pacers. Basically, how is he not out there making money? He's lazy as fukk. He's already acknowledged that he's closed doors on opportunities by not returning phone calls.

THen we get this

He turned down opportunity. From what it sounds like, that was the only think juking and he still turned it down. I can't offer any sympathy. .

Everyone conveniently forgets the fact that no one is returning HIS calls now.

Nowhere in the interview does he say that he turned down phone calls about jobs from prospective employers.....

Also, the MJ analogy doesn't work because he is the owner of a shytty organization, and that's why Stern pushed that deal thru for him cause Stern knew it would be a difficult task to have any long term success with that club and in that market....

The fact Bill Walton has a big time job is a testament to white privilege....

He gets mad props for overcoming his speech impediment, but Bill was the biggest rebel, hippie, pothead during his college and pro days, and was kind of ridiculed about it behing closed doors........

I don't care how much work Rick Williams puts in, you won't see him doing color commentary on Sundays....

:childplease:

Bill Walton and Eric Spoelstra are not good examples of white privilege.

Both of these guys worked from the bottom to the top of the totem pole over a period of a decade plus.

Robert Parrish was not proactive. Instead of pursuing a career in coaching he spent all his money relaxing and vacationing. He didn't pick up the phone when various organizations called him and thought he was above a job that was offered to him. No one owes you anything in this world. He could have tutored players or hosted basketball camps or something like that, he didn't, he just felt entitled to a coaching job. It's 100% his fault the position he is in now.

if u never built a relationship with any of these ppl when u played why would u expect them to just hand u a job now that theyve earned coaching/front office positions based off them "networking" with ppl when they were in the league?

Mchale/Ainge/Bird etc. can only give out so many jobs at the coaching level. If I could only give out a limited number of jobs to ppl I used to work with, best believe that i'm only giving them to ppl I liked. The guy I didn't care to be around at work damn sure won't be getting hired by me unless he's the best out there at what he does which ain't the case here. Barry Bonds shouldn't expect any phone calls from any of his former teammates because he isolated himself when he was the man. Now that the money is getting low he wants to be a hitting coach and the phone ain't ringing. a$$holes don't get jobs in the media so what can they do? He made his bed.

And I wonder why…..

Tell me, have you seen Chief play?

And how do you know him so well to assassinate his character like you're doing right now…

You are making broad statements about a guy( whom you've never seen play more than likely) based off of one BS interview…..

But that's what white folks and c00ns do when it comes to black men so I'm not surprised
I've seen Chief, Bird, McHale, Dennis Johnson, and those Celtics play. Chief had excellent soft hands, footwork, great rebounder, nice 8-10 foot jumper.. but he wasn't that athletic and kinda slow of foot. Yeah I seen him play. I was a kid but I was around when the NBA on CBS.

No I don't know The Chief personally. I don't have anything personally against dude, for all I know he could be a great guy BUT I've always said this to myself -WHERE IN THE fukk IS HE AND WHAT IS HE DOING?? Not to say that interview summed up his life or his career but it did reaffirm what I kinda figured he was doing. Those bigger name guys from those Lakers/Celtics/Bad Boy Pistons/Bulls golden era are pretty active these days or had some post game success.. Mitch Kupchak, Bryron Scott, Worthy, Rambis, Cooper, Isiah Thomas, Mahorn, Lambeer, Salley, Dumars, Bird, Ainge, McHale, ML Carr, Dennis Johnson, Rich Carlsle, etc etc etc.

Where are you at Robert Parish?

PEOPLE ARE CONVENIENTLY OVERLOOKING THIS.
HE DID START LOW.

I didn't overlook it homey, I was just waiting for somebody to point that out...People have selective reasoning nowadays and no longer read or look at something with pure objectivity...

People are saying that Chief has been inactive and dodging employment opportunities when that's clearly not the case.....

After being coach of the year in 2001, guess what was supposed to happen after that?

He should have received a phone call from an NBA organization discussing some type of employment opportunity.(and so should have Bill Laimbeer but he is not a company man neither)

Chief, Kareem, and a lot of other brothers are the strong silent type and that type of personality does not fit well in corporate america, no matter how qualified you are...

People are more concerned with being comfortable around you and having their egos catered too, than actually putting together a top notch staff...
