it's an application. they've been in the process of instituting the necessary reforms to join the EU for the past 8 years. the corruption there doesn't allow them in. Good on Zelensky for using this moment and telling the Euros to put up or shut up. Have this sinking feeling Ukrainians and Z are going to be left out to dry despite the feeling the media wants to portray of a feelgood united front and a floundering Russia

Let's also be honest that there were actual legit reasons to deny their membership. We are all rooting for Ukraine but they had and probably still have plenty of shortcomings. Before 2022 the supposed timeline for Ukraine being a EU member was at the end of this decade.

Ok cmon this is a bit much. These people are professional, veteran translators for EU and UN, you know how many atrocities they've had to translate for? Don't remember seeing videos of translators choking up when they had to transcribe the US bombing an Iraqi baby milk factory or droning a wedding party or for the myriad of war crimes Israel has committed against the Palestinians or any of the horrors being visited upon people in darker nations. Russia ain't even gone full demon time on Ukraine and we get these propagandistic theatrics from professional international translators?
