ukraine was in desperate need for good relations with the west, so no, they were not a superpower like russia, which is why they got rid of them. obviously it takes more than the existence of intercontinental threat, but the point is russia has enough of the intangibles coupled with ICBMs to make them a superpower, and not merely a regional power. there have been several TLR moments in here, especially you cheerleaders, but this isnt it.But this isn't true. There's more to being a superpower than having nukes. The United States is the world's only superpower currently.

What's happening to Russia right now should show that they aren't a superpower. Can you imagine America being isolated on the world stage like that?

There is no scenario where what's happening to Russia currently, happens to the United States. Even with that fool Donald Trump at our helm, we lost some influence here and there, but other nations still deferred to us and depended on us, and followed our lead.
Why? Because we are the superpower. The world's LAST superpower.
The entire world relies on us. When the US economy tanked in 2008, we dragged the entire globe down with us.
Russia's economy is tanking right now, and it's affecting us, no doubt, but we're not going into a recession because of freakin Russia.

USA couldn't get Castro out of power in Cuba even after the Soviets fell.
And they absolutely despised Castro through the 60s, 70s, 80s but failed to do shyt in part cause he had Soviet backing. Just like China is wary of Taiwan because they have American backing.
UK had to let China have Hong Kong even though the people of Hong Kong didn't want to leave.
