That's a long string of unsupported claims. We've had six straight months of posters claiming that this is the greatest embarrassment ever of a "superpower", destroyed Russia's rep, destroyed Russia's military, destroyed Russia's economy, destroyed Putin's legacy, and yet we're supposed to believe that if the war ended tomorrow with Russia being forced to pull back to Crimea (thus also ending 8 years of Russian-funded conflict in eastern Ukraine).....Putin would be so happy he had invaded?

Russia has already lost. Putin has already lost. No matter HOW they negotiate what happens from here on out, this is going to have been a disaster for the Russian state and Russian people.
ukraine doesn't want anything other than all their territory. crimea is a part of their country and they want russia out. russia won't give that up, so they'll have to fight for it and ukraine will have to win or else they don't get it. so this war will go on until it becomes too costly for russia to hold or until ukraine can't or won't fight for it anymore. i don't see why ukraine would stop because allowing russia to have crimea emboldens them to always have an eye on other parts of your country.

oh and if in a negotiated settlement the crimea issue is settled then that would be something putin didn't have before. he may have been occupying crimea and they can make all the maps they want but it's been globally recognized as a part of ukraine. if ukraine negotiates it away then it's officially russian soil. the lesson being we expanded our universally recognized borders by attacking another nation and taking it from them.
