Never understood the outrage behind having to pay for online considering our world wasn’t nearly as “connected” as it is now back when Xbox live first started. Y’all act like these servers just setup and maintain themselves for years on end

Pre-PS4 Sony & Nintendo are prime examples of what you get with free & cheap online. Microsoft is only able to pull this off because they already have crazy infrastructure in place and doesn’t need the Xbox brand to foot the bill for it

You must not have been around for the PS2 & Dreamcast online days.

Aint had to pay for none of that console service, as long as you had Broadband/Dialup you was able to play with hundreds of nikkas online

Both of those services are were legit piece of shyts compared to xbl.

You obviously aint know what SEGANet was. They Servers were quality, paid for and maintained by SEGA themselves
Microsoft could have done the same thing, but instead they knew their members were young and guillable enough to pay for what was free on other consoles

Playstation 2 relied on the Game Developers themselves to pay for the servers, so they were hit or miss depending on who owned them
