TYRONE GA!
Reeve played the role perfectly for that timeframe.

for that time frame, yes.

But that's not gonna fly nowadays. Plus, you don't want to do the same "type" of Clark again. Especially one that wasn't really an accurate portrayal of the character.
If they went with the Reeves Clark again, the comparisons wouldn't end plus cats would start severely overrating the Reeves Clark out of spite and they agendas.

BvS and MOS made money too though. :yeshrug:

So did the Last Jedi. :ld:

If you liked SS, cool :hubie:

There is no buzz for a SS sequel though. If people liked it as much you think, there would be a demand for it.

GOTG 1 had a demand for a sequel. SS does not. :manny:
My initial post wasn't about SS making money, it was about SS having legs at the box office because it spent 3 weeks at number one and 2 weeks at number 2 and however many weeks in the Top 5/Top 10 despite horrific reviews and most box office prognosticators saying it would die a quick death after a big opening weekend. That typically means a movie is liked by audiences.

And my personal opinion was that SS was a goofy mess of a movie with some entertaining moments sprinkled throughout. That has nothing to do with my point though.

It means they went and saw the movie that had been hyped for months. :yeshrug:

Not surprising, given there was a huge build-up for it.

They saw it. They didn't like it.

Which is why there is not much of a demand for a sequel from the audience, which is DC's intent to milk the cow.

DC, again, dropped the ball with it.

SS had a massive opening weekend and then it stayed at #1 for 3 weeks, then was at #2 for two more weeks.
That usually doesn't happen when a movie is reviled by audiences. That usually is a signal that the people who saw it and liked it told other people and they went to see it too. If it was just hype and anticipation that resulted in blanket disappointment then it would have had a big opening then died off. SS was successful as fukk over time. That has been my point. People wrote articles about it.

The reason for an SS sequel not being made already (one was greenlit before the movie was out of theaters btw) could be because WB shytcanned David Ayer and had to find replacement writers for the script for the movie (which they did this past summer) and are still looking for a director.
Its not like the movie came out, died a quick death and no one at WB even speaks its name. If you think WB is going to let a movie that had extended box office success and was a big hit internationally just die because it got bad reviews then you are crazy.

Wonder Woman sequel is getting made though. :sas2:

Your point was people liked the movie, and the box numbers for the 1st few weeks proved that.

Where movies made money that audiences didn't like in the past. Including other DC movies BvS and MOS.

And why did people go to the movies in spite of the bad reviews? Because of the DC brand and the hype leading up to it. That is how strong the DC film brand was. SS, MOS, and BvS still made money. You are right in that it typically doesn't happen. That is how strong the brand was.

Which gets back to the larger point of this entire thread. DC screwed up so bad, they killed their film brand and blind support from the movie fanbase. The Justice League movie proved that. They can't even get Superman right either with this Cavill fiasco.

"Get a guy like Feige"

Who in Hollywood is like Feige? Brehs acting like cats like him grow on trees and are all over Hollywood :mjlol: if it were so easy then every studio would currently have a successful universe like the MCU making billions of dollars every year. Can someone literally name a producer who compares? And don't give me Timm & Dini, they're animation guys, not live action. I wouldn't expect them to know what to do with 200M budgets on the line, casting countless actors, location scouting, etc.

Bet no one has the answer

I'm late reading this but if dude is out, it was pretty apparent with the whole mustache/Justice League debacle that he didn't care anymore anyway. I think if any us got a chance to play supes, we cutting it off if they need to do reshoots and would be in MI looking like Shawty Lo with some Begine on.

I walked out of the theater after seeing JL and knew they needed a reboot so I'm glad it seems to be heading in that direction. Either do flashpoint or crisis and start it off right rather than force it. Keep Gal and get some new blood in there that want to be there and not going to get caught on camera looking depressed when they movie about to drop like Affleck.

You just need some competency in charge.

They even tried the Fiege thing with Geoff Johns and that didn't work.

Really, Wonder Woman should be the template:

1) Get a decent director
2) Have a decent story
3) Cast the right actors that fit what you are trying to do.

Seems like they are going that route with Aquaman and Shazam.

They have stated they are focusing more on standalone films and less on connecting to a universe.

This something else DC failed to understand. WW is an icon. She is her own universe. Same with Batman and Superman. Marvel created a universe because they had the B-team and not the starters. Strength in numbers. Whole greater than the sum of its parts. Universe was so strong that the B-team became the Dream Team.

If it were me I would make a standalone universe with each character and cross them over when appropriate. I believe the first time the JL ever came together in the comics they never interacted before. The writers just decided to cross them over.

Wonder Woman didn't have to replace its writer/director.

And my point was that Suicide Squad is different from MOS and BvS just based on the way it's theater run played out compared to those two movies.

And the larger point of this thread, and I should know since I started it, is that Henry Cavil looks to no longer be playing Superman.

Yeah, they got to get the stand alone movies right first before they unite/connect anything.

When the avengers united, Iron Man and Captain America were at least solidified. When Infinity War dropped, you had Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain America, Spider Man, all with at least one critically acclaimed movie. It became bigger than life.

If you don't have that base established first with the stand alone movies, then you will get JL movie's response.

WW's director doesn't have to be replaced for reason. :sas1:

When directors make movies that people (audience and your cast) like, you won't get replaced unless you do something egregious outside of movie making. :sas2:
