They have zero goodwill.
That's why I laugh at people saying shyt like "they need to tell us their plan" and whatnot. What could they honestly say that wouldn't get spun negatively? Even this mythical reboot people keep begging for would probably get shyt on for one reason or another.
Mind, I'm not saying that attitude isn't justified. If you haven't enjoyed they're post-TDK trilogy films, of course you'd be cynical. However, at this point, it's clear people don't know what they want from this franchise anymore. They know they don't like it as it currently is, but the suggestions on how to make it better are all over the place and often contradictory (how you say you want them to focus on lighter, simpler standalone movies and then say you want a
Flashpoint adaptation to usher in a reboot
).
The only advantage that WB has right now is that the audiences are fickle and can be easily won back. The answer for them is simple: release good, audience pleasing movies. If Aquaman, Shazam, Joker, and WW84 all come out and do good business while pleasing the crowd, no one will care about this Superman fiasco. Or at least they won't care as much.
