These lists are subjective by their very nature, you see that by the fact that this thread already has 40-50 people named as "definitely" Top Ten. :russ:

Personally for me Marvin Gaye was the one that was most wild to leave out the top 10, but everyone has a different answer. It's literally impossible to create any objective criteria that tells you if Luther Vandross is better than Ray Charles or Kurt Cobain is better than Taylor Swift. There's always going to be subjectivity involved when it comes to art, but hot-tempered posters think their opinion is the only objective one.

MLK's favorite Mahalia Jackson not in the top 10?

Mariah is not FBA. Her dad is from Central or South America iirc.
:gucci: Is her mama an African American and was Mariah born in the USA to that mother? If so she’s one of us.

lol, it's always good to know what you're talking about before you jump out the window. Here's her mother.

That’s why they make the lists. They want us upset lol. Also they place people in spots on purpose. Maybe things would be better if they just stuck to making lists about these current artists. Stop making all time lists lol
It’s an old music publication, it’s supposed to make content.

Idk why y’all get mad everytime knowing you’re not going to agree with any list they make. It’s like people on the internet never seen another opinion before

Knowing you never read rolling stone a day in your life anyway. Now you care what singers they like

Yeah it's funny but her real name would have been Mariah Nuñez had her grandfather not changed their last name to Carey.

She really do look like a Mariah Nuñez though :heh:

FOH with this spin.

You were "just asking questions" like a Tucker Carlson thinking you knew you what you were talking about.
If you're not interested in facts, what are you even interjecting in any convos for?

Michael Jackson as a pre-teen is top 10 alone. Smh

They don't even have him top 40

shyt is a joke.

Michael Jackson in 3 separate eras (pre-teen, teen and adult) should be top 40 easily.

And he’s top 5 as an adult on vocal ability alone.

You have the biggest selling album of all time and fukking Cobain and struggle vocal Aaliyah is ahead of you LMAO

Based on their criteria, MJ should automatically be in the top ten. If they want to talk about genius, they're leaving an obvious genius out.

This isn't about stans, this is about the media clearly trying to erase MJ's legacy after Leaving Neverland. Even in the write-up that @Ziggiy quoted, they're telling you how they feel about him personally. They were better off not having him on the list at all if they were going to disrespect him like this.
Yes it is about stans. You're a stan, I can sense it in your reply. Y'all only care about where MJ is positioned and not about some of the other great vocalists, Black vocalists in particular who are ranked lower.

All y'all blabbering about is where Michael Jackson is placed which tells me y'all are stans, the list ain't about him.

Everybody knows where Michael Jackson ranks in general but when it comes to these lists y'all have to understand these are subjective and based on who the writers favor at the moment, none of these lists are meant to be historically final but just in the moment until the next list comes out.

Not everybody thinks Micheal Jackson is the “be all, end all” in music and that's okay...I like Michael Jackson but I don't think he's the “be all, end all” as there are artists I prefer over him and same thing with thing with Jordan, obviously one of the NBA greats but I don't look at him as the “be all, end all” in basketball.
