These lists are subjective by their very nature, you see that by the fact that this thread already has 40-50 people named as "definitely" Top Ten.
Personally for me Marvin Gaye was the one that was most wild to leave out the top 10, but everyone has a different answer. It's literally impossible to create any objective criteria that tells you if Luther Vandross is better than Ray Charles or Kurt Cobain is better than Taylor Swift. There's always going to be subjectivity involved when it comes to art, but hot-tempered posters think their opinion is the only objective one.
