anybody can get KOed...and Hearns got it twice...with Hagler and Barkley...thats it...thats not numerous...thats twice. He was TKOed in a 15 round fight....not KOed cold. All guys were punchers. I like how you always bring up a fighters final record as if the career Barkley had after Hearns rematch meant something. (Barkley had a 62% KO percentage of his wins FYI...thats how you calculate KO percentage...not by adding in fights where he lost....obviously thats not a KO in his favor) Barkley was from the damn hood. He won the 168 and 160 titles within 2 months of each other....lol. Aint nobody doin shyt like that today. Then he got rich and fell into the party and drug scene. So....Hearns got KOed by a 3 division champ, and two HOFers.

Furthermore, Floyd is not the GOAT defensive fighter....I ignored you the first time...but cant let u slide this go round. Pernell Whitaker even at WW was a much better defensive fighter than Floyd...and we aint even talkin lightweight where Floyd struggled with JLC...a guy that wouldnt lay a fukkin glove on Sweet Pea. Pernell was unhittable...and didnt need a shoulder roll and didnt fight against a bunch of slow Mexicans or guys like Mosley and Mitchell who were past prime and didnt have the speed they were once known for.

bolded emphasized for point..pernell is the best defensive fighter ive ever seen since I started watching boxing..im grateful my pops was such a big fan of his and recorded so many of his fights on VHS...I saw many of his fights in his prime..and pernell fought the who's who of the 80s-90s fighters in their primes, unlike Floyd, and made them look foolish

Great post. Although I'd say Corrales and/or Castillo (at least one of them) - will hit the HOF. Not to mention, save for Pacquiao, there hasn't been a HOFer in his prime for Floyd to fight in any division.

Diego and Castillo in the HOF :patrice:..I don't see it..damned good fighters though...Diego dying as young as he did he'll prolly be the one to get a nod at some slow year..JLC is the longshot

dawg Floyd started at super featherweight, he has nothing else to prove with moving up in weight
seriously...Floyd wouldve been right there with all those guys but he wouldnt be the best in that era. he wouldve taken his lumps like everyone else at the top. those are all HOF fighters. first thing is when it came to power he wouldve stood out as the weakest one. he wouldnt have necessarily been the fastest one...he definitely didnt have the killer instinct and combination punching of a young SRL. Even SRL was a damn ducker. Ducked Pryor with no shame. Floyd wouldve had a hard time keeping Aaron Pryor off his ass. Fighting Canelo at 154 is cool but Floyd wouldve never fought a big strong FAST hard punching killer like Norris. The most dangerous fight I still say Floyd ever made was Zab...but Zab mental has always been miles behind his skills. I still think to this date...all things considered his best win was Corrales. Of course we know the Oscar win was the biggest win.

you judge greatness with opposition and Floyd never beat a HOF fighter in his prime. that is fact.

Terry Norris is at weight class Floyd has only fought at twice
Floyd has fought big punches, guys bigger and stronger than him already, why would Norris be any different wasn't a technical beast he lost fights to guy he had no business
losing too, guys no where Floyd's level

We all know Floyd was hurt in the first Castillo fight, he COULD NOT throw a jab or left hook, and he still won
we all saw what happened in the rematch even though he was still out weighed 138 to 147 pounds

Who was the best fighter Pernell Faced? Be real

Only defensive fighter who can be mentioned with Floyd is Bernard Hopkins, which is why the both dominated younger fresher stronger opponents at their advance ages

Pernell declined at 33, Floyd at 33 there's no comparison

Floyd said he gave him that work at 17, I believe him, because he has no reason to lie and you can watch both fighters and see Floyd is way more polished

He was unhittable to everyone but a 17 year old Floyd who from I've heard put that work in on sweet pea

sparring means shyt....nikkas come in camp outta shape and shyt.... I seen sweet pea overweight like hell in camp and getting touched up. a lot of people looked good in sparring against Roy too.

Floyd was in no way a better defensive fighter than Pea....not getting touched up by Emanuel Burton he wasnt...one of the few unorthodox fighters he wasnt dipped in molasses slow.

pay homage

ok, time for me to get the fukk outta this wack ass thread...yall nikkas in Jesus or somethin in here. Your questions dont need to be justified with answers but Pernell fought KILLERS. First off....JCC at 87-0 was better than ANYBODY Floyd ever faced and Pernell was flat out robbed. So u sound stupid. Azumah Nelson is better than the only true killer Floyd ever faced in his prime which was Corrales. Buddy McGirt twice. Roger Mayweather, Greg Haugen, Freddie Pendleton, Ramirez...and at the time Sweet Pea beat Vasquez...Vasquez was damn good...you know, he is the guy who gave future HOFer Winky Wright his first defeat. Pernell in his 30's still made Oscar look stupid and was robbed in Oscar's coming out fight. He still gave a damn good go against Tito and he was fresh out of rehab. Drugs were the reason for his decline. In that aspect...Floyd is better, he is supremely conditioned...but you needs to get the fukk outta here talkin bout a rich coked-out legend sparring with a fukkin pup who hadnt even whiffed a 6 figure payday. Like that shyt really meant something. :dwillhuh:

I dont know if they will...if so it will be more because of that war they had and the premature death of Corrales..but if you stack up their accomplishments to others...they are more on the outside looking in. Both great fighters in their era....but short primes. Corrales was a killer though when he fought Floyd and to me is Floyd's best win.

just remember this....Pernell was robbed against a legend who was gonna give him his first loss in 88 fights. Some people say Floyd lost against that guy's sparring partner. That should put it in perspective for you.

I remember as a kid I loved Azumah Nelson because he was a killer. I loved Pernell too and I remember when that fight was made and being scared for Pernell. Of course back then I didnt know nothing about boxing. Pernell had no problem with "the Professor". Floyd had no problem with Corrales...and for that he gets major props from me. The truth is though...Azumah Nelson was a much better fighter than Chico.

I asked you a question...who has Floyd faced that was as big, strong, and fast as Norris...all in one. the difference is...speed. Something Canelo dont have. Plus....Shane said Canelo and Floyd got the same amount of punching power. :patrice:
