My relative owned a comic book business which sold comics in the early 90's. I was conventions every weekend as a kid.

Rob liefield was joke then too. I hated that guys artwork. It always seemed so corny. However, the early 90's was when Jim Lee did the Uncanny X-men. Then when the X-men team split, Jim had had control of "X-men". To me, Jim Lee's X-men was the X-men. When he left, I couldn't really read the comics anymore.Granted, I grew out of comic books by the time I was 10 years old.

90's comic book art was really good. I remember looking back on 80's and 70's era comics as a kid in the 90's, and I thought the art work was plain primitive.

Frank's Miller's Wolverine was good though.

Nah seriously though...what was in the pouches??? Ammo? Work?

Breh..:deadrose::deadrose::deadrose: I can't stop laughing.

Anyway, we're definitely doing the rose colored glasses thing. From an artist standpoint, that may be the greatest era of comics and certainly one of the greatest but from a storyline and writing standpoint? Nah. There was dope stuff definitely but a lot of garbage..A LOT of garbage. The 90s were about art over storyline, which is the main reason Image was created. I'm trying to think of good or classic stories from that decade and all I keep coming up with is a lot of meh or garbage. Knightfall? Death of Superman? (Impactful, yes, but good? meh) Lois and Clark getting married? Don't anyone mention the Clone Wars...Maximum Carnage? The only thing that's coming to mind is Morrison's JLA run and that was late 90s

I like that Liefeld, in updating the Supergirl image, took the bold move of not giving Deadpool hands. Apparently he's supporting Cable's body on his penis. Cable, meanwhile, has tragically died of lockjaw and Only One Thigh Sclerosis. It's a terrible disease.

80s was the golden Era. All that gimmick shyt in the 90s due to people buying shyt as an investment. The Saturday morning cartoons got me to start reading comics when I was younger but when you went back to read the 80s shyt you saw a massive difference in the writing.

Watchmen
Dark Knight Returns
Batman Year One
V for Vendetta
Miller's Daredevil run
Days of Future Past
Black suit/Venom arc
Dark Phoenix Saga
The Killing Joke

And so on. Some of those got/get studied in legit literature classes

You talk to a bunch of fukking idiots then that don't know shyt then. The 90s was the artists era and the birth of Image Comics which opened the gates for other publishers cuz DC and Marvel had a monopoly on this shyt. Todd McFarlane made Spider-Man popular again and Jim Lee broke records rebooting the X-Men. Also the problem wasn't wit Rob Liefeld but the hundreds of clones that publishers demanded draw like him cuz his shyt was selling like crazy.

Oh yea the comic book industry as a whole became popular itself in the 90s because of these guys alone. Nobody gave a fukk about ComicCon in the 90s but as soon as these dudes started appearing on the news and shyt it got wild attention.

Knightfall - Batman back is broken by Bane
Death of Superman
Frank Miller killing it wit Sin City

Yea it was also the covers gimmick and anti-hero era but there was plenty of piff in the 90s breh.

death of superman
knightfall

were the two worst all time stories in the history of the big two, EVER.
close followed by age of apocalypse and the later scott lobdell, to who ever makes xmen, now run.
people crap on liefeld over the time of his career.
yet, he was young as fukk, and actually made new mutants enjoyable when he first appeared and later took over.
now, granted I did not like new mutants being canceled.
yet, for the time, the first few issues of xforce were okay.
the problem where liefeld got initially exposed.
was the spiderman issue when he drew the xmen.
that is when the complete uproar began and started the negative backlash.
which over time was warranted.
yet, originally youngbloods was interesting and his character models were okay.
it is he just never tried to grab a bridgeman's and started to become a grade A a$$hole in person at con.
which also, lead to his wOAT label.

he was the first guy.
that critiqued artist's pages and smashed on them for no reason.
while he had pages that had the same errors he was overly critical of.
that also, hurt liefeld and his draw, hugely.

as he shunned the very guys who were young trying to get on like he did.
with the same types of errors as he had.

it was the era that comics had its own identity. its lost that now, with comic artists coming from art schools not knowing anything about the essence of comics, drawing in a more realistic looking and ultimately more boring style. back then comics had a look. anime has its own look, with the glamorized hair and large eyes among the other things. it stayed true to itself. to what it is. comics has lost its look. its lost what it is. the 90's was the peak of that essence. i would trade this era with the 90's era in a heartbeat.

I don't like the accredited college art school pencilers they have now.

they all suck and it feels way to corny with no style.
plus the shading is completely off and it is all computers, too.
