Some movies like Free Guy take off, this one obviously didn't. Advertising was damn near non existent, I saw one trailer and only went as a chick I'm seeing got me a ticket.

Breh Thelma & Louise, Black Hawk Down, Gladiator and The Martian are pretty much all certified .. he got some misses too but he got more hits than the two you named

He has plenty of newer movies that are fire. This movie is well reviewed, the marketing failed and this is a pandemic, different ball game. He directed House of Gucci that’s coming out that looks great too. He has some failures but he has put out quite a lot of movies, he’s not like Fincher who takes 6 years to come out with another movie. The sheer volume is going to lead to some duds.

How does Ridley Scott keep getting these big budgets? Don't is a legend and one of the greatest ever but at this point it's just been a collection of nonstop bloated, expensive set piece movies that keep under performing.

Unless it's a spectacle movie (Bond, cape shyt, etc) I really don't see anything doing well at the box office until summer 2022. Covid and fukkery is still in control.
