You guys are overhyping Torry Smith, his hands are suspect as hell. I've seen him get shut down by average corners. He's doesn catch in traffic. Harass him(be physical) and he's a inneffective wide receiver. When he's not getting sepeartion, he's useless. I'd take mannignham over Smith. Aex Smith and Torey Smith should work as well as Smith and Manningham. 49ers organizaiton did a goodjob of builing the offense around Smith's skills and playing style. Them wideouts compliment him well.

But i agree about Smith. He has weapons and need to start utilizing. Youll never hear it, but he has one of the the receiving corps in the league. They just dont get the props becasue they dont get the opportunities from Smith . .

To me this is crazy, I can name 10 teams with better WR corps than SF.

Detroit
NYG
Atlanta
GB
Houston
Baltimore
KC
Dallas
New England
Pittsburgh

Yes, we do, but our offense is too conservative, and Alex does not have Flaccos charged mega-buster of an arm, nor does he possess Flacco's confidence to make those throws.

So we have a deep threat like Tory Smith?

Who is he, let me hear his name?

Crabs is a possession guy
Randy aint the same old Randy
Mario is nice, but he's not some scary deep threat

Who you got left after that? Williams? Ginn? Jenkins?

I don't think Tory is some complete WR stud either, but we don't have a guy who stretches the field and makes the big catches like Torry can.

You must never saw Manningham play for the Giants. dude was one of the top leaders in big plays(two yard or mroe) so miss me with that. Vernon Davis is very explsovive. It seems like your trying to absolve Smith of any responsibillty. Smith have more than enoguh weapons onthis offense. All the 49ers need is for him to step up. He's making progress this season but he' needs to make bigger leaps. I seen Moss open a couple of time this year already and no ball come near his way. This seaosn is on Alex Smith.

I did see him play all the time for NYG, and I love what he is doing for us but he still was a #3 all the time when he was there.

I`m not counting Davis because i`m only going off of WR corps, we're not that great. Good, a B- squad. But I love what Manningham is bringing to the table so far

I`m not absolving Smith of shyt, he got 5 touchdowns through 3 games, he isn't playing that bad and he beat GB and Detroit, no need to absolve him of anything.

I agree this season is on Alex and I agree that he has more than enough weapons on offense, I just don't think we got "one of the best" WR corps in the league like you had stated. But Alex definitely needs to be better, we need more from him if we want to go to that championship level

I also think there is a lot of over-reacting to one game.

Strangely enough Vernon Davis and Manningham can be deep threats. We got guys who can make keys upfield, even Randy can get out there in his limited snaps. But our playbook is built around run plays and short tosses that make the receivers create YAC. If we wanted a deep threat we had chances to get them but the front office is satisfied with what we have and what we have a great improvement from last year, but we need to capitalize on that because if we don't. We'll be chasing Arizona and we can't have that. Alex Smith is still a decent QB that plays smart, but he has to take the next step sooner rather than later, as does Harbaugh.

I understand this is just 1 game, but the way we lost concerns me. We looked flat out impotent against the Vikings. Now I know our defense will recover ultimately, but we gotta show the Jets what's what next week and our success moving forward is tied to whether or not we can open the field up offensively, because even an elite defense will allow points and scores to teams at times.

It's so so sad how you try to discredit everyone around Alex to make yourself feel better.

We have arguably one of the best WR corps in the NFC and a top 5 offense in the NFL in terms of weapons.

Crabtree
Moss
Manningham
Kyle Williams
Ginn

Vernon, Walker

Hunter, Gore

What more do you want?

Edit: We do have guys who can take the top off the defense but we don't pass to them or even draw up plays to them.

Y'all don't have a #1 though...

We don't....but there isn't a single QB in this league who wouldn't be licking their chops with all the weapons we have on O.

You really think a legit #1 would beast in this offense? I don't think so.

houston and baltimore's definitely better. ne is arguable...

manningham was a third WR in NY, ginn is complete ass, kyle williams is a relative non-factor, moss is washed up, and crabs is shaping up a possession receiver..

you are lying to yourself if you wouldnt take andre johnson kevin walter and whoever the fukk is their third wr over our whole WR crew. shiit Id take a healthy andre johnson and two random rookies over this WR crew.
andre is a beast.
baltimore has a great posession wr in boldin and one of the leagues best deep threats if not the biggest threat in torrey.

with that said, its clear that alex isnt progressing on deep throw accuracy at all, and coaching staff seems to ignore it....which is not good at all. teams starting to stack the box against us all day long again. kaeps time might be coming sooner than we thought.
