:laff: for a second, ja rule was actually one of the biggest heads in r&b and that DUDE COULD NOT fukkING SING. him and ashanti's duets were godawful together. :smh: and most people were all fronting like they were tight too UNTIL 2003 when 50 cent blew up. i'll never forget how folks that were all up on ja rule's dikk suddenly were disowning that dude fronting like they didn't own any of his albums or were singing his r&b love ballads. shows you how many people will follow instead of going along with their heart.

the ja rule era was nauseating for me...VVV was my shyt in HS and to go from that to all that bullshyt R&B joints and struggle singing all over the place...i never took that nikka serious again after that second album

2005 is when I stopped rockin wit live.

that game was stripped down like a muhsucka.

live is cartoon basketball in comparison to 2k's gameplay.

and best of all 2k has the deepest dynasty mode, and i wats compatible with college hoops 2k, which was the deepest basketball title of them all.

that was a classic.

ja was on fire when he first started doing the r&b singles. that chit got old quick tho.

was nas with kelis when she did this?

cuz I know nas despised angie's music.
The last live game I played ws 2005 and 2006 when they added the dunk off. Those two games were the exact same game, just with a different cover. SMH...That was the end of NBA Live for me. Still for me, the best NBA Live was NBA ive 98 with Tim Hardaway on the cover. But I agree 2k sh1ts on Live.

Ja Rule doing them songs got old quick for real. Collabo with Christina Milian, The joint with Case, The Lil Mo joints, The Ashanti joints etc...Dude kept recycling his own songs. He finally tried to switch it up with New York with Jada/Fat Joe but career was 6 feet under by 2004/05.

I dont think Nas was with Kelis around that time as far as I know. As for Nas hating Angie's music, and Nore's music, and Camron etc. We all know how Nas went off at power 105 lol.

Sacario wrote all of Angie's stuff i think

best Lil Mo performance=Ja's I Cry. pretty dope song i always thought
I Cry was dope, nice Ojays sample. (I dont care what anyone says lol). But I think Put It On Me and Hot Boyz was her best. Put It On Me was hot too.

^They retired this one off 106 back when it was watchable lol. I think it was also the #1 video/song of the year on the 2001 year end BET Notarized countdown list too if I remember correctly.

I remember of them BET shows (either spring bling, or that fashion show runway thing with the performances... back when BET was watchable) where Ja came out with Vita and Mo and performed Put It On Me. The crowd was soo hype they overpowered Lil Mo's vocals at the end where she goes off and some of Ja's parts.. Killed it.

The game needs Missy SO BAD right now :beli:....nikkas are too serious

no thanks.

I mean, if youre talking r&b then sure. but could do without missy's rap career.

yea, I been rockin with live since the beginning. all the way back to the ea sports games before nba live..........BUT NBA 2K SURPASSED THEM.:king:

people say live '96 was the best. I never played that one tho. a lot of people say '98 too. but live '98 had stiff competition from nba shootout back then if yall remember that joint.

yea, ja's schtick got old quick.

Interesting.... Lil Mo talks about how she got on. Says Guru from Gangstarr kinda put her on back in 95/96, and then Missy brought her on tour in 1998 while unsigned. She seems mad cool as usual.

"put it on me" is a classic. I remember everything you just said cuz I loved that song. like on some real chit, I think that's the goat rap love song.

and yea, I still have that notarized countdown and spring bling performance on vhs.

crazy thing is, by the end of 2001, I couldn't stand that nucca. that just goes to show how much could happen in music within just one year back then.

and yes, they owe lil mo big time because that's the song that made jarule into a superstar. and if you listen to the album version, before they added lil mo to the song.......it was still hot but not nearly as good.

You know what I used to say Live 96 was the best. I had that for Sega Genesis LMAO. Honestly I like both 96 and 98 the best. One of the 2002/3 was also nice. Everything else is meh. On the otherside, 2k was just always nice and got better and better while Live kept making the same damn game.

Yea, Put It On Me was a hood classic for sure. All the girls sang that sh1t in unison every time it was on back the day.

Mo MADE that song. Mo said something about Irv and Def Jam had issues with the song, then they added her on the hook and then decided to release it.

I think I was dont with Ja when all them Ashanti collabos came out one after another. But before then, the joint with Case, the Mo collabos etc, I was cool with him.

I was done when they put that lazy ass franchise mode on the 2005 joint. that was the last straw.

live continued to be more glossier and more casual-friendly, but it just paled in comparison to 2k after a while.

yea, lil mo's voice is synonymous with my high school years. hell, whenever I hear lil mo singing, I automatically think about some of the girls I went to school with(not on no simpin chit, well except for that one jawn). YO YOU REMEMBER THE INTERLUDE FOR THE CLUE ALBUM? priceless.

im glad that shes back. and shes aging well, Charlemagne was on point when he told her she got a nice rack.

I started to sour on jarule when he did that video with j.lo in the park. then when he debuted the song with case at the source awards, I was done.

he did have a 2nd string of good songs in 2002. that "aint it funny" remix with j.lo & Cadillac tah. then the "down ass b*tch" and "down 4 u" songs. then he lost steam again. he would've been better off if he spaced the songs out instead of milking them. he didn't have to milk them chits like that. what a sellout. nicca did a grease video.

Ja over-saturated the market will all them songs too close together and all the same format. And then 50 came out and we all know what happend there. lol

Lil Mo is on that R&B Divas show with Chante Moore, Kelly Price, Michel'le, Dawn Robinson, and Claudette. Word is she getting a 125k paycheck plus 20k. So she say with a job,
Mo aged well. She looks like a cool mom type of chick. Some other past R&B singers from that era like Blu Cantrell, Sharissa and other broads just disappeared. Dont know how they eating now.
