...but remember when Lil' Mo basically ended Nicole Wray's career...

Nicole wray never had a long career.
I believe she was trapped in administrative limbo on rocafella.

hotboyz was nas's best commercial mainsteam feature.

LOL. So true. Then Mo go replaced by Ashanti, then Ashanti by Beyonce.

Damn... Y'all actually liked this Angie song? This song was a$$..... It might have been listenable back in the day, but looking back at it, its laughable now. Mo is preganant in the video. She should of take her time off and come back in 2004 or 05. Jumpin in this Angie video with them saggy eyes, chubbier face and camera shots from the neck up. No. But hey, Ja wasnt paying her so she had to get money from somewhere.

The only song I can remember I liked with Angie on it was that Lil Kim "ladies night" with Left Eye, Brat etc.

Nicole Wray's career started before Lil Mo and they peaked around the same time so I'd like to think the 'administrative limbo' started before Rocafella. Remember both Mo and Wray were Elektra artists and Missy protegees first. Matter of fact Nicole Wray was the flagship artist and first signee for Missy's imprint under Elektra. Missy was writing all of their songs and featured them both heavily on Da Real World. It's debatable who had the better feature when you look at All In My Grill vs. Hot Boyz but needless to say that after that album it was clear Missy was riding with Mo. Im sure Wray was caught in some red tape under Dame Dash but it couldn't have been any worse than what Mo was going through with Murder Inc.

This is the track that probably sums up the 'administrative limbo' you're talking about though, I remember Dame wanted to drop that Beyond Reasonable Doubt cd for like 3 years (during what ultimately was the breakup) and eventually just put out a 10 track mixtape. This was the joint!

man they need to do a some kind of documentary or compilation on that whole Missy/Timbaland camp

they have so many dope songs i have half forgotten about
There was always some story about Devante (from Jodeci) running up on Ginuwine (all in the same Missy/Timbaland camp) back in the day with a gun...Timbaland ghost-producing some of Jodeci's 3rd album and Denvate getting all the credit, and other sh1t Ive heard throughout the years.

Always wanted to hear the truth behind these stories...

it HAD nothing to do with lil mo's looks. it had more to do with the fact that lil mo sucked as a music artist. she was a ONE hit wonder. fabolous actually blew up off of her song and he was the feature. how do you let someone who guest appears on your shyt outshine you like that?

I'd take Hot Boyz. Its just an overall better verse, singing, guest appearances, video etc to me. But All N My Grill was dope especially Big Boi's verse. You gotta give it up for Missy/Timbaland. They helped put on a lot of them singers on or helped these peoples singles push. Like Lil Mo, Tweet, Nicole Wray, Gina Thompson, 702's Steelo, pushed Aaliyah in a better direction after her stint with R. Kelly, etc.

What exactly was the red tape that Nicole Wray was dealing with? Label issues?

wasnt this song a hit?

who wrote for angie??

some of that shyt on her album (yea i heard it no homo) sounded blatantly like jay
No idea, but I wouldnt be surprised if Hov did some writing on the low. This Kelis/Angie with the Lisa Lisa sample sounds like he could of wrote some of it. The Lil Mo collabo was a big hit. I think it went plat too. I cant even front I didnt mind "if I can go" back in the day, but looking back at it now. The Kelis joint was always trash to me.
