Reading and math competency chart broken down by race and state. Black Americans are doing pitiful.

Mother fukker I lived in the suburbs in a white majority school district. We had good schools, good teachers, good facilities, good resources, and the yet still the black kids wanted to act like fools even if they had two parents at home and lived in a house.

Pointing the finger at poverty just excuses our deeply entrenched cultural issues that don't value education to our detriment.

It started going haywire since the crack era. Cultural anthropologists need to look at what the drug epidemics did to the CORE VALUES AND PRIORITIES of black families as a whole.

Thank you.

Been saying this for years. It's bad for society and bad for the kids. If someone feel it's the teachers fault and they don't have time to reinforce education. Don't have kids.

Casual sex and the glorification of an uncommitted polyandry lifestyle is to blame for a good portion of it IMO

I find these conversations laughable, ngl. There's a huge generation of black college grads that prove that education does not automatically lead to better outcomes. You think the kids ain't watching?

Not just black students. White students are shooting up the schools and killimg teachers in cold blood because they seen too many horror stories about Millennials not getting good jobs with advanced degrees.

Y'all conflating too much in here and it's usually intended to shift blame and feel good about yourselves

I have my own personal views about college being a scam and largely unnecessary outside of certain specialties. The thing is college is irrelevant to the topic and y'all know it is so why is it even being discussed?

Kids being able to read is the bare fukkin minimum and there is no excuse good enough to blame funding or the system on. Mind you this same system, fukked up as it is, provides the resources for your child to be able to read. No excuses

The only people in here being honest are the ones saying this shyt starts at home

it’s embarrassing.

only so long you can blame racism for failures that are self-inflicted.

he got a lot of criticism for it, but bill cosby was on point when he made the ‘pound cake’ speech.

I'm with you, my issue is with how in so many of these threads the predominant conclusion is that this is solely a parenting problem. What’s even more concerning is that many of the people reaching this conclusion are (allegedly) Black themselves.

The chart we're discussing highlights a much bigger issue. It shows that educational achievement disparities exist across different racial and ethnic groups, with Black students consistently appearing at the lower end, even lower than Native American students in many cases. This pattern can't simply be reduced to individual parenting failures.

Yes, parenting matters, there’s no doubt about that. But when you see an entire racial or ethnic group struggling across the board, regardless of geography or other variables, it points to deeper systemic issues.

at the end of the day a person is responsible for their child. that's law under god, that's law under the states. if the school system fails do to racism it's on the parent to teach the kid when they understand that is what they are facing. if the entertainment is going to go to the kids head, it's the parents job to mitigate and prevent that. if you understand that you can not stand in the gap for your kid on everything, it's on you not to have kids until you can.
recognizing contributing factors is not mutually exclusive to recognizing who the ultimate responsibility lies on.

but your question was are black parents bad parents. is a stupid fukkin question because any race can be a bad parent. do better.

I'm sure younger people can pick up on your thoughts that higher education is useless.

Interesting because my parents pushed college from elementary school. It wasn't something negotiable. I needed to focus on school to get into college in order to get a decent job. They both were graduates and I should be as well. Same with most of my peers.

Just an observation.

What else is it? Rap? Their friends who might also have terrible parents? The stressed out teachers dealing other bad kids. We are talking BASIC reading, writing, and mathematics.

Look at Asian kids, them lil mufukkas be shotokhan black belts at the age of 3, chess masters at 6, and geniuses at 13. Are they perfect? No, far from it. But Asians have some of the most humble wholesome cultures. That shyt is ingrained in them from the womb

The biggest demon for blacks right now is lack of accountability. It's slowly killing us. Our Civil Rights leaders grew up in a MUCH tougher era and still stood up for themselves and fought in the face of white supremacy. So you mean to tell me black kids today can't do basic arithmetic?:francis::what:
Cuz their moms believe in effort not inherent talent. Which is good. Americans in general believe if you don’t learn it the first time then you’ll never understand what you’re supposed to learn and American moms reinforce it

They face less scrutiny too

100% on the parents, if you are not setting aside some time to do math, reading, science with the kids, they'll lose interest in higher education as those subjects get harder.
It’s hard to do when it’s just you and your working two full time jobs to sustain the family that’s why now more than ever we need to preach financial literacy and family values the most. It’s why I won’t have kids until I’m debt free minus student loans and have 30-40k in the bank. We need to be able to have the time to raise our kids but most can’t because they have to work so much. I thank for for my mother(in part due to my step dad) finding a way and my grandmother helping out as much as she did.
