I was with you, but this is terrible logic. The value of money in the 90s was different than it is now. Besides, back then, having a physical copy and having a collection meant more. You can't just take the actual minimum wage and try to extrapolate that to now when the cost of every has gone up and yet wages have remained stagnant. :smh:

albums are like 10-12 bucks currently, and CD's did cost around 12 in the 90's..got close to $15 at the turn of the century

obviously the value of the dollar dropped, but it's not like CD costs have been adjusted to compensate for what they used to be in the 90's.

CD's would cost over $20 in todays money if that was the case.

it's not about stopping the floss talk it's about how outlandish and ridiculously unnecessary the talk has become.....

u got nikkas like ross who have completely just oversaturated the shyt.... 5 different big ass chains everytime u see him (it's real druglords in the streets who make a splash with just owning a chain or two)....

then u got him talking about the outlandish shyt he tricks on these hoes....

last but not least he speaks as if he is the only one doing it at the level his mindstate tells him he is doing it.....

I liked the way the nikka was splashin for a minute, but dude has just gon out of reality with it to the point where he is in competition with the way he appeared the day before....

another thing rappers make themselves appear larger than original flashy nikkas, which to me is corny.....

bugatti's, ferraris, porsches, bentleys, lamborghinis.... thats what every rapper has (or claim to have) now.....

what happened to pullin out a clean audi, benz, bmw, or acura ? nikkas would relate and feel the music more if rappers wouldn't try so hard to make it seem like there on some jetsons shyt.... don't get me wrong u have some rappers who have it that level but most of them rap nikkas who act as if they do are fugazi.

n*ggas aren't the ones complaining tho.

that's the thing that renders this whole debate to being pointless.

the people that constantly complain about this are the people that these songs usually aren't geared towards.

where in my post did u see "complain" it's not about nikkas complaining its about nikkas knowing that most of these rap nikkas who start of being relatable start putting on a fairy tale show when they touch a little paper....

nikkas touch a million and become bugatti pushers overnight, FOR WHAT ? what's wrong with a bmw, or a benz ? nikka try outdoing themselves and thats when the fairytale lifestyles start gettin painted by your favorite recording ARTIST.

Cause audi's,benz, bmw and Acura are all cars regular people have.... it aint about you "relating", it's about them being on another level than you.

unless you were on some throwback dopeboy shyt, that Acura Legend Coupe isn't flexing... it's just an old ass car.

we're at the point where rappers who don't even have major label deals have $70-80k whips, multiple homes, expensive jewelry etc.

this is nothing new.

and its nothing wrong with it.

you don't like, you don't buy.

why listen to those trashmen in the first place?

youre basically asking for it.

youre making a mountain out of a molehill.

if you don't like the chit, then don't rock wit it. plain & simple.

I can meet you halfway and say what ive been saying all along: that theres hasn't been any real diversity on the radio for a while. and as ive been saying for the longest, this is being done purposely in order to dumb down the genre and more importantly, to dumb down black folks.

but to get mad at certain rappers because theyre not making the type of songs that YOU want to hear is corny and is really just some bitter chit. I can see if youre mad at certain rappers that are proven to be capable of making more than just flossy songs, but that's just not in the cards for a lot of these dudes. a lot of the mainstream acts out right now are about as deep as a puddle. I can see that from right here.

My man, I am not getting angry, because why should I if the people who need to see they are being tricked, don't care. I'm just observing certain things, and letting them be known. The only anger I have is towards the people who don't change anything when they can, meaning the people who allow their households to let this shyt effect their family.

The guy in the video I posted, expressed how I feel very well. That video, and the first one he made, are words spoken from my heart. If rap is for the hood, the artist need to do better, at HELPING people get out of that mind state, and stop encouraging them to be food for the prison system, the welfare system, and child support system. If this music was about people who didn't do things that would fukk their life up forever, then hey who cares, but it's not.

The artist can't change the community, but they can help not push it over the edge, because that is where the black/latin community is going. We are about to be a permanent lower class, and no one seems to see this, and talk about it.

The Opposite Of Elliott Wilson's Mohawk
The real issue is profanity, as long as fuk, bytch, nikka, sh*t are the foundation of every song there is a limited amount of subject matter you can deal with

Rap music has painted itself into a corner, I think the only way rap can flower artistically is if it gets out of the fukk, bytch, shyt, nikka paradigm

but that's just artistically, commercially rap music is dead, rap music grew big becuase it filled the worlds appetite for sex and violence and degeneracy, if rap music turned away from that it will increase the commercial decline of rap music

So my point is rap music is screwed no matter what

Many of rap's biggest selling albums are filled with violent content

Rap's popularity also peaked w/a lot of its violence

I know you want to force everything through your orifice of intellectualism but like everything else there is way more to it than you are trying to insinuate. White kids have always been rap's biggest customers and they have stopped buying rap for reasons that have nothing to do with the content. Not sure you noticed but music sales in general have been in freefall and have only recently begun to retrentch. Plus the digital age has enabled the few people who still buy music to only buy singles rather than whole albums. Etc. etc.

Its one thing to stunt, the thing is a nikka like Jay talking about checking the time on his Hublot in the South of France is so far beyond what an avg hood dude or even white teen who actually buys his shyt can relate to its like damn

Growing up u prob knew a nikka with a 600 Benz or a gold chain etc etc. Who do u know with a Hublot? #whouknowwiddaHublot nikkas mite as well be talkin about fukking Martians

I do think competition needs to come back to rap, but not in who can buy the most outlandish shyt... it has to come back in who can make better music. Coming back to ur Lebron metaphor... it would be like if there were a player whose stats were consistently better, and u came back with 'yea but so and so aint got they own sneaker, wheres the endorsements??' nikkas taking vacations on space stations aint got shyt to do with music

alot of nikkas know real from fugazi though.... Jigga been telling u nikkas for over a decade that most of these rap nikkas are really broke....

I love the flashy shyt to death don't get it twisted, but when u try making your lifestyle appear more prestige than actual billionares it becomes corny..... on top of that it becomes outlandishly corny when YOU the artist believe the shyt you are SUPPOSED to be portraying....

what is your ideal "regular/typical" person, because I have yet to walk out the crib and see a neighborhood full of "regular/typical" folks with bmw/benzes/audi's parked in the driveways..... you sound like your favorite psuedo wealthy MC right now lil fella wisen up. your regular human being is living check to check or BROKE lil fella.
when did it become uncool to push a bmw or a high end benz ? don't give me the competition angle because 97% of them nikkas are not competing with puff jigga or birdman on any financial level....

what u should of said is that most of them rap nikkas are trying to KEEP UP with nikkas like Puff and Birdman who actual have the funds to BUY and OWN Bugatti's..... lil fella there is a reason Puff shytted on all them nikkas on that "same damn time" remix....

but basically what your saying is it's a bunch of nikkas in competion with trying to keep up with actual wealthy folk.....::snoop:

do you know how to read, im not sure what it is you are responding to, what i said is that rap music has filled the worlds'a appetite for sex, violence and degeneracy

how does the biggest selling albums being violent or rap peaking at its most violence contradict my point?

I know you want to force everything through your orifice of intellectualism but like everything else there is way more to it than you are trying to insinuate. White kids have always been rap's biggest customers and they have stopped buying rap for reasons that have nothing to do with the content. the decline in rap music sales is worse than the decline in music sales overall

Rap sales falter on charts*|*Kaneland Krier

Combined, rap and hip hop started out selling $2.5 billion worldwide, but by 2009, their sales dropped to $1.3 billion, a 48 percent decrease in sales.

Every genre of music’s sales have decreased due to online piracy and competition from other media, but rap and hip hop took the biggest hit while pop, dance and rock were the least affected.

so it seems you dont know what you are talking about and have low reading comprehension

the point i was making is that if rappers got out of the fukk, shyt, nikka, bytch paradigm, rap music would improve artistically but the commercial decline would still continue since the bulk of people that buy rap, buy it for sex violence and degeneracy

so in a roundabout way i think the decline of rap music is a good thing for hip hop, that was my point, im not trying to figure how to increase sales of rap, rap music is garbage, it deserves to decline

I think it has everything to do with it, I feel like Rap fans today are getting tired of the played out, "I got money, hoes and clothes" theme in mainstream rap..

That's why you seem niccas struggling to sell, while rappers with actual devoted fan bases like, Nas, K.Dot etc sell without a problem..

I remember at Rock The Bells last year during Cudi's show, he had a part where he started talking about how, "Fvck these rappers that talk about Ferrari's and Lambo's, we ain't got that shxt" etc and the whole crowd was with him on, it was crazy :whew:

I think these sterotipical, niccas like, Ross, Trinidad James, Meek Mill etc will be a thing of the past soon, labels are going to realize. That type of rap doesn't sell like it used to, then you see Cole, Drake, K.Dot, Macklemore doing nice numbers with not even half of the amount of promotion the others niccas have and there it is.

That constant "I'm better than you, got more hoes, money, and jewerly than you" raps are getting old as fvck, it's cool on a couple records but rappers be doing it throughout albums.

That massive backlash will usher a new era of music :lawd: . About time the average everyday man that strives to do better finally get shine. The transition is already happening and cats like Ross, Wayne, etc. better get their last bit of money before it happens, cause the new cats will make sure that they can connect to their fanbase and deliver.
