Rap was built of having the good life, but there is a difference between "I'm living good, have bad broads, but things are fukked up out here, My lady is getting on my nerves, I just had a child, my people was partying, got drunk, and high, and was wilding, so the police was some a$$holes" to "I have $1200 shoes, jeans, smoke the best weed, fukk all these bad bytches, make it rain in the club, I fukked your bytch, just brought a bugatti or lambo, I get high all day off of pills, weed, and alcohol, I'm not a rapper, I'm a hustler, fukk that rapping shyt, I ain't trying to kick knowledge, and you got a regular job, you're a loser".

You don't have to listen to these type of songs, which is EXACTLY what is happening. How can someone listen to songs like this all day, and not FEEL dumb, is something I don't understand. When I would listen to that shyt, and then watch the science channel or some type of political/business show, I really felt like my thinking was at the bottom of the barrel. I keep that shyt to a minimum.

the bolded had me dyin of laughter because thats exactly what this shyt has turned into

Looks like the OP has got The Tea Party of hip hop in their feelings again...

"He's not talking down to me, he's trying to motivate me to do better and join him"

:laff:

Yeah MC Mitt Romney can't wait for you to join him with the rest of the 1%...It's actually what inspires him to do his work...

:laff:

Real talk, there is a movement, which i fully support, of The Conservative Rap Coalition.

ConRapCo-logo.jpg

unkut.com – A Tribute To Ignorance (Remix) is basically the fox news of rap.

again, i fully support this.

Alot of rappers don't make 30k..................

The fans make more $ than the rappers.

These dudes lie in their raps, get that label loan and start trying to front on people. Then the real numbers come out and dudes disappear. They not gone for no reason. They gone cuz they broke living on somebody couch and lving thru the "rich" raps they spit that they have people believing. Why do you think the depression levels are so high for artists? They gotta listen to the lies they spit too. It's just worse because they ain't got anything they talking about.

Even if you made millions, but stopped working and just kept spending without any income coming in, you pretty much living rap life.......for a little while at least.

Do the same people that get offended by what rappers say, do y'all get upset when y'all see a regular citicen ridin in a bently or lambo?

there was a big @$$ thread months ago where a bunch of dudes were  over the fact that non-celebrities were ballin out at all-star weekend.

hOW U LOVE THAT VOL 2 is my fav cmr record. i feel u.
Although i prefer a wide range of subjects. The real problem is the lack of personality, creativity or just being overall wack.
I can listen to Too $hort's 83'-00" music all day. Is he the best rapper ,naw. Does he have a wide range of subjects, typically no.
But on his best works,he has ill funky beats and when he talks about hoes,he makes it ultra comical, tells interesting stories and/or just gives you a certain psychology about women, player, tricks etc and it's very entertaining and informative. When he deviates from hoes,he still delivers the same level of game spitting about life (the ghetto, life is too short etc).

Like runny ray spoke about big tymers, them nikkas were very funny and though they were just talking shyt, they sounded like no one else. They gave you their perspective, personality humor etc. And musically they made great music.

Problem with music now is that their is no particular perspective per artist.
Too many using the same flow, same type beats, same sense of humor or lack of it. PLUS on a mainstream level everyone is virtually doing the EXACT SAME shyt.
In all honesty the threadstarter does have a point,When this nikka or that nikka was BALLIN OUT,there was other nikkas with similar popularity, doing something different.
When puffy was hot,no limit was hot with street music. Not quite as hot sales wise, but amongst hiphop, they were very hot.

There used to be a whole bunch of popular cliques. Now nikkas just come out with the same music and run to certain artists looking to piggy back their fame off others. Nothing wrong with networking, but people really need their own identity again.
Going into the mid-late 90's going into the early 2000's i remember various cliques popping

No Limit
Bad Boy
Terror squad
Cash Money
Ruff Ryders
Wu-tang
Mo thugs
Aftermath
Disturbing the peace
St. Lunatics
Roc-A-Fella
etc etc.
We got cliques now,but there's a difference. nikkas these days sound too muck alike and they do TOO MANY COLLABORATIONS.
nikkas too desperate

probably the best post in this thread.

Actually I do becuase i see it as a sign of the rampant financial illiteracy in the black community

And I think rap music encourages wasteful spending, when you really think about it rap music is a how to guide on how to end up as a broke ass motherfuker

Who said the regular citizen was black :aicmon:

Not to mention having a nice car doesn't mean you are financially illiterate or have your priorities out of whack... I know people w/nice cars whose $$$ is on point

Plus black people were buying stupid shyt before rap. And America in general is financially illiterate. Black people aren't the only people getting 96 month car loans. No matter how much you try to paint Americas problems as black problems it just isnt true

I thought we were talking about black people, my bad then, then naw I don't care what the regular citizen is driving

Second I don't really care who you know, I know people too

Third financial illiteracy is rampant in the black community, that's just an obvious fact, Im just talking about black people I don't really care what other people are doing

The funniest thing about this whole thread, is that most of the rappers that you’re listening to (that are talking that big money shyt), are either broke or in debt.

Someone driving a Bentley has no effect or bearing on black financial illiteracy

And acting as though black financial illiteracy is some phenomenon happening in a vacuum outside of general American culture is dishonest + asinine

This is just another false start on your "black = less than all" campaign

How much of ones budget you spend on transportation has everything to do with financial literacy, are you retarded?

This is just part of my campaign for the intellectual development of the hip hop nation, your post is just more of your campaign for intellectual stagnation

When you look at the lack of savings and lack of investment in the black community i think you should get upset at a regular person driving a bentley or other ostentatious displays of wealth, it's a sign that black people are wasting the little money they do have on things that do not produce wealth

the overall bottom line is that everything isn't for everybody. if you don't like what a rapper is spittin about, then don't listen. i'd much rather a rapper DO THEM instead of making forced records that just aren't them. that's been a problem in rap since the early 2000s. too many rappers trying too hard to branch out and cater to too many different audiences, and the result is a bunch of phoney records. look at jadakiss.

whats that?

U think rap's problem over the last 10 years has been trying to branch out too much??? Lol, is this a joke? Rap over the last 10 years has almost exclusively targeted the birdbrain, club hopping, materalistic idiot at the expense of every other demo, and its been counterproductive to the growth of the genre.

"Stacking chips like Pringles"

"Getting to the money..."

"Had ya baby mama..."

"Threw $__bands/stacks/racks up and watch it fall..."

"(drug)____ got a nikka leanin"

"Put a two in a fo' and mix it on up..."

"Me and you are not the same, took yo baby mama cuz you were a super lame..."

examples of why I don't listen to much of what's out now...been on a mission to download as much 90-2005 music as possible...the years I grew up on (84 baby here lol)

yeah they talked about money/women/drugs....just not at the rate these young nikkas are doing it...I like hardcore mafioso, gangster, rob you and kill you lyrics way more than how much this rapper tells he's better than me and that he's doing my chick/BM while styling on my bank account and blowing kush in my face while po'ing up a drank...:beli:

oh, funniest thing is...these rappers want YOUR chick/baby mother/wife but they got STRIPPERS on deck too:snoop:?
