catching up on the last 2 episodes. I looked up buddy who plays francois boom, and apparently he's not from harlem :dame:

You don't know who this is? He is a hilarious comedian. Yeah he is gay.

Latest episode was pretty great. Wonder what is going to happen now,

Low key this is one of the best shows out right now. Having worked around musicians/rappers it did a good job navigating the behind the scenes culture.

Mia is my guilty pleasure so is Shawna they boyh fine.

Chastity needs to at least take some classes if she wants to be taken seriously as a manager or just take a lesser role. These ladies need a legit manager.

Mia deserved to have that two timing shyt blow up in her face. That was just Karma for trying to keep Lamont away.

Damn tho, Earl Sweatshirt stand in really set himself on fire.Crazy.

That is weird that they got someone that kinda looks and acts like Earl to play that role

That A&R dude Tunji used to post maybe 20 years ago, had some convos with him way back when, like on AIM, he was older, or just way more mature, but just a good dude. Like a humble, down to earth, grounded person. Got a crazy reaction from me when I heard his name, never saw him before either, but knew he was Nigerian, I think.

From what I remember he was at Berkley or maybe USC and went to intern at Interscope afterword, and must have worked his way up from there.

wow just watched and caught that he's the PRESIDENT of Def Jam. Dope as fukk. I don't know that guy, but I kinda do.

Great episode, won't do a long breakdown, but I love how sharply the show is written. One of the more uncomfortable scenes, was how out of place Chasiity is, the show doesn't downplay that mix of culture/class and money. But, where is felt really sharp was when that woman was hitting on her really hard, and she didn't get it, because in her world, that's not how you flirt. At least that was my read.

The whole Lord AK thing was interesting too, well acted and well written, but also a pretty good take on all the super extra emo depressed rappers now. And what that might look like in real life. We know YNW Melly was a mess. We know Juice WRLD was a disaster. Mac Miller. The other kid who got shot and killed in Broward. XXXtencacion.

He has a drug issue and is depressed, unhappy, his brother died---is what I got from those scenes, and that dude Gat is like his handler. Gat is one of those enable/industry guys. He says "I'm on one right now" when they are talking about mushrooms. Or is there a gay angle too? That might be over the top.

The Francois condescending was brutal and very well acted. Chasity is kinda not worth much, but the show is pretty deftly contrasting the kind of people that are in the industry and people like Chasity. This is what rappers mean when they talk industry and real vs. fake. Your career being handled by people who are not from your class/culture/background, whatever.

I like how even a 30 minute show, (I know Insecure was too) they write a good amount of nuance into people, who feel more real, Rap shyt is maybe more satirical than Insecure was but

Gat: Obnoxious, degrading behavior, clingy, but seems like besides all that he loves his friend, or his chance at the majors

Cash: clearly a type, but seems to genuinely like Mia, he's just restricted by who he is, controlling, used to having what he wants, accessibility of women

Courtney Luke: seems to be pretty genuine too, doesn't come off like a sleaze ball hanger on

Francois: slippery, but is he just good at what he does? That's what the industry guys are like.
