How many of yall have done squats with chains?
Someone had built these ~35 lb chain rigs at one of my gyms and I tried them out today on squats:
They felt weird at first but after a bit I was like
I have rarely felt my quads getting the same amount of action as my hams/glutes when doing barbell squats. Which makes sense, since the weakest part of the squat is in the hole (ham/glute dominant) and the strongest part is locking out (quad dominant).
Using chains seems to solve this problem....my whole leg 360° felt equally worked today. This makes your bar heavier at the top and lighter in the hole as the chains start touching the ground providing an even motion from top to bottom
There are apparently athletic advantages to doing these too since they train you to explode out of the hole and accelerate the bar into its heaviest point
Plus, the swaying of the chains makes your core put in overtime as well to stabalize the motion of the bar. You know them stability ball squats that dummies do? This shyt provides those same benefits without the stupidity of having an unstable base
I'm keeping these as part of my regular routine. My quads are gonna be thanking me later
