Uncertain grounds
raising to 15 is not going to happen with so many business struggling and closing

this is not the time to increase pressure on small businesses (such as mom and pops not the technical definition necessarily)

the fed minimum should be raised though. itd be nice to raise it to 10-12 with adjustment for COL depending on the state but i dont have faith in lawmakers to do the right thing or come up with a fair and just formula

I’m sure there’s a reason as to why this can’t happen.. but why can’t government just mandate a minimum wage increase but only for large corporations of a certain size?

Is it possible to mandate places like McDonald’s and wal-mart need to raise minimum wage but SMBs and local businesses don’t have to?

A lot of those shops are going under anyways. This is the perfect time to restructure the economy. The wages paid by those shops left Americans willing to risk covid exposure

Also, we know this is slow roll out not a overnight change

maybe we should foster local economies more instead corporations/big box stores

we should be a country of small businesses as well

I 1000% agree with this
I don’t think an increase in minimum wages prevents this imo

We don’t need a bank, Starbucks, etc on each street. You know the deal

Better yet we can eliminate the concept of a minimum wage for small businesses.

Hate that I agree with you, but this site is very weird with their fukk small biz takes as if they have the same margins, bargaining power, scale, etc as large businesses. Like no, perfectly healthy businesses are dying/died because of this pandemic, they weren't dying and shouldn't be dismissed as such.

I don't think people realize how many people are employed by small businesses, the fact that they're already declining and those jobs, especially in the unskilled sector, aren't being replaced with positions at large companies.

America’s Highest Minimum Wage Sparks Fight in Small California City

I continue to bring up Emeryville because as a city in a high COL area with highly paid residents & patrons, independent food & retail has struggled/declined even with a phased in hike.

just make it 12, and let cities and states raise it further :yeshrug: its over. 15 is the neera tanden of bills

and the CBO isnt saying this is gonna cost 1.3 million jobs because theyre an extension of fox news :dead: a nationwide bill should be based off the poorest/lowest cost part of the country
