I been saying that shyt for years Wu-forever is like a decent compilation

nikkas was expecting cuban link + liquid swords + ironman + 36 chambers pt2 and got some other shyt that was half phoned in

RZA was experimenting when he should have been solidifying

Wu-forever is a album you do 5 albums in from interviews over the years like half the clan don't really fukk with that album like that

if the album was what it should have been Wu would be a lot bigger today (musically)

Word.

It was never quite the same for them as an collective after that album.

I get that “real rap” fans thought it was disappointing because it wasn’t 100% like their last album but…it’s a great album and easily the best rap double album IMO. There are duds on the album but overall there are maybe 4-5 tracks I don’t like. That’s amazing for a double LP…

Rae will never admit it but RZA was right. Rae was THAT dude after Forever dropped. He did so many crazy features after that, including hanging with Nas and Pun on the same track. Yet when it was time to drop an album he dropped a dud and it ruined his career for years. What happens if Rae was humble enough to get RZA to do his CL follow up in 1998, fresh off the Forever success?

It would have had Bobby Digital beats. You can here him trying out those sounds on the album intro with the old gods going through it. Also on Black Shampoo & the trash Tekitha song.

And I say that not to defend Immobilarity at all. Just that clearly burnout and Wu fatigue had set in by 1998.

Rza only produced a handful of the songs on SC and none of that album is at all in the vein of Bobby Digital. I get that you’re being snarky but SC is an anomaly amongst the second round of Wu albums. And it’s because Ghost was possessed.

play anything Rza was doing post forever. There’s always a kurzweil keyboard element. The swarm, The Deck stuff, Golden Arms stuff, The Pillage etc. and if he went into his sample bag it wasn’t even always on fire like that anymore. Play that disco godfather song off T2000. The guy was burned out.

WTF is Vlad talking about?

“a lot of people didn’t like that album. A lot of people thought half of it was trash”

he’s just making that shyt up. I’ve seen almost every bad take in the world and I don’t think I’ve heard that one. That’s not even how haters of that Forever hate on it.

this is new to yall?

most people generally didnt rock with the 2nd disc, outside of a few songs.

Nahh he's not, that's factual. I was only like 12 but I remember that shyt clear as day, that joint was disappointing. So was Tical but that's another topic for another thread.

Wu-Tang Forever > Enter the 36 Chambers

Better production; RZA reached his peak as a producer
As emcees they were seasoned as emcees on Wu Tang Forever; they had mastered their styles

36 Chambers has the breakout singles, but as an album Wu Tang Forever is the better album

2 discs album and each song on both discs goes hard

Classic

Word up! I play Forever more than 36 I can't remember the last time I even played 36:heh:

I love OB4CL 1 and 2, and Shaolin vs Wutang, but Rae really just be hatin on Rza like it’s his occupation. Even retrospectively hating on shyt like Forever. Forever had Wu in another stratosphere, it was different but it wasn’t a let down at all.

and Rza said at the time of The W that he would gladly step aside and let someone else lead a Wu Tang Clan album and use whatever producers they wanted if any of the other members wanted to take charge and get it done. Rae has stayed shytting on every move Rza makes but hasn’t ever stepped up to take charge of a group project.

Immobilarity was 99. And imma keep it real. The Wu Tang Forever shyt was type polarizing when it dropped. I remember that shyt pretty clearly.
