People were split but it was mostly people that expected it to sound like 36. Wu Tang Forever imo is a superior album to 36 they elevated lyrically and musically and it took me years to see that. Rza was trying to bring big clear sounds to grimy street music and succeeded at the end of the day. Rza was chasing Dre.

It’s nowhere near 36 chambers. At all.

triumph would be the worst song on 36 Chambers

Classic album nonetheless...

Very hard to pick songs if you would trim it to a 13 track album:ufdup:

the city and black shampoo should be on there respective albums

I think it was maybe a mistake to do a double album. I’d almost argue that any double album from a 10 person group almost can’t sound like a compilation album to some degree. That’s just way too many songs with way too many voices for it to sound super tight and cohesive.

I always have said this same thing. Especially after the flood fukked up Deck’s first album. I felt like RZA owed it to him to give him half of Wu-Tang Forever for a Deck solo. Joints like Heaterz, The City, For Heavens Sake, Visionz…

ah I see, I thought he meant half the people liked it and the other half hated it. Only issue with disc 2 is Black Shampoo is on it lol.
& Dog shyt & Second Coming. That is a terrible end to the album. Rae is right giving that shyt a final test score of 79 :patrice:

Wu-Tang Forever > Enter the 36 Chambers

Better production; RZA reached his peak as a producer
As emcees they were seasoned as emcees on Wu Tang Forever; they had mastered their styles

36 Chambers has the breakout singles, but as an album Wu Tang Forever is the better album

2 discs album and each song on both discs goes hard

Definitely none of that :skip: Just not nearly good enough to end a Wu-Tang album in 1997 period :beli:

I disagree

Besides, it ain't like they hadn't been cranking out classics left and right

36 Chambers - classic
Tical - classic
Return to the 36 Chambers - classic
Liquid Swords - classic
Only Built 4 Cuban linx - classic
Ironman - classic
Wu Forever - classic

That's 7 classic albums from 94' to 97'.

Wu Forever just wasn't their breakout first album with those ground breaking singles, that's all and it couldn't be the same because they no longer the same artists, so course the album isn't going to be the same as the first album

Return To The 36 Chambers = Close but no
OB4CL = CLASSIC
Liquid Swords = CLASSIC
Ironman = Close but no
