Thats not a bug it's a feature. And it's what made Wu in their prime so great. They had something to offer the women (meth), the streets (rae and ghost), the crazies (odb), and the psycho hip hop heads and backpackers (gza, deck, rza). There was cross over obviously but that's what made then blow up the way they did... They appealed to everyone.

No Father To MY Style.. A Son Unique
EXACTLY!

Fam I just don't get this board sometimes. Lol it's like I'm in the Twilight Zone with these nikkas
its cause your statement is so black and white. your one of my favorite posters, but to name a thread "Rae and Ghost were the ONLY reason street nikkas fukked with wu tang" is completely wrong even if its soaked in reality

can it be so simple is one of the FIRST modern day (post g rap era) east coast drug dealing records in the 90s. unknowingly to us all, that song set off the rae/ghost team and mafioso rap in general ie influenced every rapper in the game

"half the east coast sound just like rae" - cappadonna on heaterz

but rae and ghost didnt come back out TOGETHER until 95/(or late 94 with heaven and hell).

so the whole 94 which set wu up for the rest of their career, you telliong me street heads only fukked with wu tang cause of one song? cause in 94/95 wu tangwas in their STREET PRIME.

CREAM did more for the streets than any song wu did. and that was rae DECK and METH. ghostface didnt hit his stride until late 94 and in that same time deck or meth would have been seen just as equally STREET as ghost and rae. infact, ghost wasnt even coloful with his shyt yet which is what really caught the streets ear.

street nikkas didnt fukk with Tical? bring the pain, sub crazy, mr sandman. fukk, your all i need is like THE street love song. Biggie was LOVED by the streets and meths on the what. Not inclding meth in yur statement cause he didnt rap purely about selling crack just rubs me the wrongw ay cause meth was NEXT and he was loved by everyone. the streets, the cacs, the inbetweens, the girls, everybody..

I just dont see how you can with absoluite certainty say that rae and ghost were the sole reason for the streets fukking with wu tang when wu tang were loved by the streets, doing all black concerts shooting guns in the air, etc before cuban linx even dropped.

RZA was the main reason for EVERYONE liking wu. the streets loved the rzas beats ie thats why everyone has rapped over all his classics. find any freestyle session from the 90s, from jay z to nas to big to whomever it was all rza tracks.

the streets turned their back on wu in general during wu forever because they dont like being preached to and rather would glorify more negativity wanting another cuban linx type album.

raekwon is a CLASSIC PIONEER of this street rap shyt so yes dude is a prime reason dudes love wu tang. but dude is crazy 1 dimensional. They needed to come out together to get the respect cause ae would have never made it without wu tang. ghostface flipepd his style 3-4 times between 36 and supreme clientele... word in the streets during 2000 was ghost saved teh wu with supreme and that era ghost was less(tho still heavy into) street and more emotional and abstract (ugod had the style first) which made him a cult hero but idk if that helped or hurt his street image in the long run.

but the streets fukkED with method man. they fukkED with the RZA and his beats (RZAs verse on tearz is the classic street tale, not ghosts). Hell pre cuban linx when wu was selling out shows in the hood all the time, DECK was ahead of ghost (and he didnt get the rep for being a knowledge/math rapper until forever)/ ODB was a star on 36 chambers and def is a street dude.

Beinga drug dealer isnt the only way to connect with the streets, but street heads fukked with way more members than just rae and ghost. I mean was nas respected in the streets? if nas was I dont see how half the wu werent when their subject matter was way more into that shyt than nas. You could say GZA was boring and wasnt fly that made the streets love him but homie was dropping songs like"Life of a Drug Dealer" in 91, had a pure street album in liquid swords and was called the head of the crew. His shyt sold the same as Cuban Linx even though you say the streets only fukked with rae and ghost.how is that?

Wu Tang brought EVERY aspect of the streets to their music. the street is more than selling crack and being fly in some hill figure and clarks. the 5% shyt was def the STREETS. the crazy RZA beats were def THE STREETS. The streets fukked with Wu tang, not just raekwon and ghostface.

It was when wu got crazy deep with the lyrics did the streets stop fukking wu tang and start flucking with just rae and ghost but that wasnt even until 2000 my dude...did the streets fukk with Immobilarity? no... and rae was even BETTER lyrically on that album. what was the difference between immobilarity and cuban linx... its a raekwon solo... not a WU solo. That alone shows the wus brand itself is fukked with by the streets because raekwons only successful albums come from when he brandishes his album with that W. Did the streets fukk with Supreme Clientele? YES... why? Cause it was a WU album.

just facts here. I would appreciate any discussion on it. youre looking at wus legacy through the eyes of today forgetting that during wus prime, most members were equal with each other, all loved by the streets equally until they alienated the base and only rae and ghost fit in with the 2000s era gangsta sound. but rae and ghost being the only ones is some 2005-on revisionist long run shyt. The streets been calling wu white boy music for a long time and abstract ghostface and raekwon (99-2007) didnt help none in the eyes of those streets in reality.. How could a crew of 9/10 felons not be loved by "street nikkas" period. Wu tang was loved by all types of people for all types of reasons. and the proof is in raekwon himself who was completely forgotten by the streets for guys like pun/dipset/50 etc until homie slaps that W back on his cds. Like I said, your statement is too black and white to hold all that water.

wu tang is too important a group to say that only 2 members out of 10 hold their rep to the crowd wu makes their music for. They were the streetsb favorites but not the ONLY ones.

It's between Wu-Tang, Public Enemy and NWA for best group ever imo, so trust this isn't at all a diss thread. However, a lot of street nikkas wasn't fukking with that Kung-Fu/different sounding shyt. Rae and Ghost were the street element. They talked about the real life drug dealings, the poverty all that extra grimey shyt that nikkas dealt with on a daily. nikkas getting shot, stabbed, drug wars etc...

Rae got street nikkaz like them
Gza got nerdy white dude that like super complex vocabulary to liking them
Method Man got stoners to like them
Rza got Asians and people fan of kung fu or whatever to like them

they are different people but because that they are together, they ate off of their differences and drew extra fans because of it.

My appreciation of Wu Tang was because they were obviously 9 decent lyricists, and they were diverse in their subject matter. I'm not a street dude, but enjoyed all their first couple of albums for different reasons.

OB4CL is the reason why. Ghost is a bit more abstract. Ray is the one who's straight to the point and was the only that epitomized mafiaso rap in the group.

Fresh should of said Rae and Ghost are the two Wu members that hustlers fukked with. That's more accurate.

They were not the ONLY reason, at all. Sure, they had a big influence but thats a sweeping statement that devalues the other members impact.

Grimiest nikka i ever knew swore blind DECK was that dude. He'd dam near beat the shyt outta you to get his point across

And all the real nikkaz i knew fukked with old school kung fu flicks heavy :wow:

They still do:wow::ufdup:

nikkaz need to have their rep'n available.
most are speaking and from the mecca.
like the culture was prevalent to regular nikkaz in abundance, or frequency.
when, regular nikkaz shunned hiphop to their utmost core.

So, I just don't get why this thread is so long.
