how are you able to even talk about this issue and you don't know the actual edict it is about and why this thread was made.

Art Barr

But you agree that those same n!ggas you talk about was bumping Wu big time even before Rae or Ghost even had a solo song? And when Liquid Swords dropped it seemed like every fly, crack selling n!gga I know was bumping Cold World, Shadoxboxing, and 4th Chamber all day.
Breh you gotta remember that before 2000 the Wu was on fire. nikkas was checking for anything they dropped.

Liquid Swords is a classic don't get me wrong :whoa:

But would have anybody cared about Sunz of Man or Killarmy if they weren't Wu affiliated? And nikkas loved those albums. But look at the solos that dropped in the few yeas after Forever. Meths was underwhelming, GZAs were decent, RZAs and Dirtys were weird as fukk, Deck had a good album but he lacked the charisma of the rest of the members, and I don't even kno why they let Cappa make a solo. These were also the years that cacs really caught on. The only three that really stayed true were GZA, Rae and Ghost

Word. I didn't even think this thread would be contested because it's pretty common knowledge

But I'm probably overestimating people's ability to comprehend and overall knowledge
I'm in shock... Like this shyt is KNOWN. Just look at who the rappers like to toss on their tracks... shyt is ALWAYS Rae and Ghost... Those are some of my favorite rappers, FAVORITE rappers... My older brother is 37... I literally thought the WU was only Rae and Ghost because of him. No disrespect to the rest of the Wu though. But this is FACTS.

RZA has said he had them put out "OB4CL" specifically to cater to street cats. That doesn't mean the streets wasn't fukking with Wu prior to that, it means they actively went after that demographic with the Rae/Ghost album.

So the thread isn't inaccurate, the title is just worded a bit odd.

the death of cowboy from the five.
sent an edict through the culture to take responsibility in content as far as drug usage and solicitation/sales were involved.
which is why culturally, artist with drug heavy first person content in selling drugs were villified and also listed as taboo.
it was not until Wu that this was challenged in the Mecca and later aided in lifting the edict content wise in rap.
the best thing tue Wu did was rap in covert speak.
to give the content an added flair that as of now.
is the most influential move content and direction wise in rap music, since that occurred.

Thanks. I never even knew that. I know Cowboy but had no idea he made a grand statement. Any links you can provide that show this?

That would explain why hip hop in the East went through a non-grimy period from like 89 - 93 until Wu stepped in. I just figured NY got tired of the West Coast outselling them because their music was catchier and more hardcore.

They all street dudes, I know that. But that's not the point. When they started breaking into doing their solo shyt, Rae and Ghost were the drug dealing rappers out the Wu so fans gravitated towards them.

Meth wasn't a rapping about the drug game heavy like that at all, ODB wasn't at all, GZA wasn't. And those were the other ones to drop around the same time frame as Rae and Ghost (1994-1996)

You had me confused a bit with your initial post, but now that I see what you're getting at, I'll agree. Meth gets a pass because he was before hip-hop became so street oriented, but yeah, Ghost & Rae are what keeps street dudes listening to Wu.
