A Lakers fan is asking this question? Jesus fukking Christ
You're not a Lakers fan, you're just a Kobe dikkrider
Do you know your history? You remember the time when Magic came in the league as a rookie and Kareem got injured in the finals, so Magic won that shyt single-handedly while playing all 5 positions? 42/15 in Game 7 of the NBA finals as a rookie, starting at center, that's fukking why. And that was a year after Magic had won the NCAA title, so he had proved himself as a serious basketball player by the time he entered the league, meanwhile Kobe came straight out of highschool and wasnt doing shyt when he entered the league until Shaq left the Magic.
Kobe averaged 7/2/2 points as a rookie.
Magic averaged 18/7/7. 18/9/10 and 3 steals in the playoffs, and was the first and only rookie Finals MVP in NBA history.
Magic was already averaging more assists and rebounds as a rookie than Kobe ever did his entire career. Had more assists rolling out of bed than Kobe could get on a good day.
Not to mention the most cited reason, that Kareem was 34, just exiting his prime, by the time Magic entered the league. Shaq was 24 when he joined the Lakers, just entering his prime.
Edit: Shaq was already on the Lakers when Kobe was drafted, my b
Point still stands
